Principal's Report

Building works
If you have visited the Senior Campus recently, you will have noticed that significant progress is being made on our building project. The demolition phase is well underway as preparations continue for the construction of our exciting new learning and administration spaces.
As part of the project, the existing classrooms will be refurbished, the fire protection system will be upgraded, and extensive landscaping around the main building will be completed. The development will also include a new library, two new classrooms, a new administration building, enhanced staff facilities, and the installation of a lift to improve accessibility.
Below are some images showing what the completed project is expected to look like in approximately 14 months' time. It is exciting to imagine the wonderful new facilities that will enhance teaching, learning and collaboration across our school community for many years to come.
Reports
Mid-year Student Reports will be available on Compass from 4.00pm tomorrow, 24th June. A reminder as has been mentioned, the reports will continue to provide important details about student learning attainment, but full descriptive comments will not be included for many classes. This is because of industrial action taken earlier this term by the Australian Education Union.
Curriculum Day
Last week School Council approved the arrangements for our next Curriculum Day, which will be held on Monday 3rd August. On this day, teaching staff will participate in a full day of professional learning with educational expert Nathaniel Swain. Nathaniel will continue to build on the work he has been doing with our staff this year, focusing on evidence-informed teaching practices, particularly in the areas of reading, writing and explicit instruction. This professional learning will support the ongoing refinement of our literacy practices, with a particular emphasis on high-quality novel studies that develop students’ comprehension, vocabulary, background knowledge and engagement with rich texts. Ultimately, this work will help ensure the best possible learning outcomes for all students.
Student v Staff Netball Match
We are ready for another one of our annual sporting events at Gardenvale, the Students vs Staff Netball Match! Taking place this Friday at 11.20am at the Senior Campus, this clash promises plenty of excitement, skill, determination and perhaps a little friendly rivalry.
Parents are welcome to come along and support the players as they take to the court. Will the students' speed and energy prevail, or will the staff's experience prove too much to overcome?
Baby News
It was lovely to hear the news, that Bridget Cooper (3D Teacher) and her husband Tommy, welcomed the birth of their little baby girl, Gloria (Gigi) Penelope Quinn on 13th June.
End of Term
A reminder to all families that school ends at 2.30pm Friday, 26th June. Term 3 recommences on Monday 13th July.
Wishing everyone an enjoyable break from school life and safe travels if you are heading away.
Janine Hall
