NEW PRINCIPAL
St Francis Xavier’s are excited to welcome our new Principal for 2025, Mrs Michelle O’Connor. Mrs O’Connor is a familiar and important member of our school community, undertaking the role of Assistant Principal/MaST (Special Maths Teacher) at our school for the past twelve years. She values a strong commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive and christ-centred school environment. Mrs O’Connor’s vast knowledge and experience will be a wonderful asset for our staff, students, families and wider community. We warmly welcome Mrs O’Connor to her new role and look forward to her continued leadership and vision.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAYS
Our staff commenced the 2025 school year with two staff development days held at school last Thursday and Friday. The sessions focused on important mandatory training ensuring all staff are equipped with the knowledge necessary for nurturing positive student well-being. We also received a special visit from Armidale Catholic Schools (ACS) staff School Performance Leader: Mission and Learning - Mrs Katie Hanes, School Performance Leader: Living Well, Learning Well - Mr Rod Whelan and Subject Matter Expert: Inclusion - Mrs Elise Baird.
Mr Whelan, assisted by Mrs Hanes, led an insightful and impactful session on supporting student behavior. His extensive experience in this area was evident, and staff gained valuable strategies, including the importance of maintaining a calm classroom and effectively supporting the student body as a whole. To conclude our professional learning, Mrs Baird and Mrs Nott shared their expertise on inclusive learning, highlighting the necessary adjustments to ensure all students receive the support they need to thrive as a learner.
Teachers and Education Assistants were also excited to spend time in their classrooms and workspaces preparing for the first day of school.
STUDENTS EXCITED TO BE BACK AT SCHOOL FOR 2025!!
A new school year has begun, bringing with it fresh opportunities for learning, friendships, and fun. Students in Years 1 to 6 commenced school last Monday with so much back to school excitement!!
St Francis Xavier’s would like to extend a warm welcome back to all returning students, as well as to the new students joining our school community.
This year is set to be filled with exciting opportunities to grow together in kindness, learning, and faith. The staff and students look forward to a fantastic year ahead.
KINDERGARTEN CLASS OF 2025
Our Kindergarten students visited school on Monday and Tuesday this week to undertake their Best Start Assessments before commencing their first official day of school TODAY!!
They spent their first day getting to know their teacher and classmates as well as learning sounds and syllables, playing games, reading stories and completing workbook activities.
The Kindergarten teachers, Mrs Brooks and Miss Wheeler along with Education Assistants, Ms Parish and Ms Swansbra have a very fun year planned for the students.
