What a busy term we have had in the Prep area! Students recently completed a term reflection about their favourite things this term and it was lovely to take some time to reflect on everything that we have all achieved!
A few weeks ago, were lucky to have the opportunity to visit Bundoora Secondary College to hear about and see their calves and goats. Students asked lots of questions and all got an opportunity to feed those hungry calves! One of our highlights has been the making of bread and butter. Although the bread didn’t turn out as we expected it was a great learning experience for everyone (including the teachers – add the water to the machine first!) and we used this opportunity to show how mistakes can help us learn. As our discovery unit, Farm to Family, comes to an end, the students have been busily making their dioramas and are really enjoying using their creativity to show what they have learnt about farm animals, what farms look like and how they give us produce.
Recently we have been learning about different types of repeating patterns in Maths. Students have identified, continued and made their own patterns using a range of objects in the classroom. They are labelling them as AB, AAB, ABC and so on. This has been a very engaging unit so if your child is telling you about the patterns they are noticing in the environment at home, you’ll know why.
Students are all looking forward to their first school concert next term and recently recorded some backups to their songs they will be performing on the night. Such great voices and we can’t wait to show you their moves next term!
