Chev Need to Knows

6 June 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

I trust this email finds you well as we conclude the first full school week of Winter in 2025.

Our Future Facing Learning approach at Chevalier College was implemented at the beginning of 2024. Future Facing Learning acknowledges that the current education system is falling short in equipping students with the necessary skills for success in the modern world. We believe that an educational approach that is flexible, adaptable, and focused on developing the Knowledge, Capabilities, and Self-development of the individual, with our MSC Spirituality of the Heart at its foundation, is critical to our students' success.

Future Facing Learning aligns with our commitment to nurturing agile, empowered, and engaged students. In 2024, we redesigned the traditional timetable to enhance the core curriculum by offering more choice, flexibility, and independence around learning, as well as more opportunities for students to develop a strong sense of who they are and what they can do, by introducing a course called SIM (Strengths, Interests, and Motivations).   SIM is a positive psychology approach designed to help students identify and apply their strengths, interests, and motivations, ultimately enhancing their wellbeing.

With the above in mind, we are respectfully asking parents to offer their precious time to offer reflections about Future Facing Learning with a special look at Flexible Mondays. We would also like to refer to how your input and feedback, along with the feedback from staff and students, resulted in new initiatives in Term 4 last year and again in Term 1 this year.

We value your feedback in understanding your perception of how changes implemented since the last round of feedback have impacted our students, your children.

Please take a moment to complete the survey by clicking on the link below. Your feedback is invaluable to us as we continue to refine and improve our educational approach.

Click here to complete the survey.  The survey closes on Wednesday 18 June.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education.

Sincerely,

Greg Miller

Principal

MSC Mission Office

Through the MSC Mission Office, the College is supporting a school in Papua New Guinea to help them construct clean water tanks. All proceeds from the Mission Concert will support this project. In addition, students can donate by sponsoring their House for the Sacred Heart Gift. The Sacred Heart Gift is a relay race run on Sacred Heart Day. The more money a House raises, the shorter the distance their runners need to run. Students can donate by placing money in their Houses bucket. Buckets will visit Home Rooms on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and will be available in Student Services at other times.
