Maribyrnong Division Winter Sport Round Robin Sport Reports presented at last week's assembly

Hi FWPS,

We are Minah and Audrey.

Today we are here to tell you about the exciting first divisional game that happened on Wednesday the 17th of July. We got on the bus feeling nervous but confident. We played Ardeer South Primary for the first game. We started off feeling hopeful with some good hits but sadly, no home runs. In the end we lost 6 to 18.

We give special mentions for Samuel for his excellent fielding skills and for Jason for his improved fielding efforts. We also would like to thank Ardeer South Primary for having good sportsmanship. We also thank Marshal for being a great coach, and we also appreciate Diane for coming and supporting us.

Even though we lost we still had a great time. Thanks for listening!

Hello FWPS,

This is Oscar and Jude from the T-ball club, and we will like to tell you the events of our last match against Yarraville West!  After our previous loss we had to take home the win, but first we had to eat a delicious lunch. We were hyped up more than ever, ready to finally begin our SECOND MATCH!  We were batting first scoring a couple of runs but Yarraville😙🦶West made a great comeback in the lead. The game was tense with both sides playing with all their might. Sadly, in the end we lost 15-5, we would like to thank Marshal for coaching, Yarraville West for having good sportsmanship and playing with us, and thanks to all the people who cheered us on. Special mention to Jimi for playing catcher and Sebi on base.

Thanks for listening!

Hi my name is Perry and I’m Oliver and we are going to talk about the divisional footy round robin tournament from Wednesday the 17th of July.

As we got off the bus we were nervous but excited for the challenge. With Oliver as captain for the first game against Albion North Primary, he lost the toss but we had a good start and showed effort all game which got us the win. Albion had a very good player who we had to defend against. Perry played on him and helped stop his influence on the game.  The scores were Footscray West primary 9 goals, 1 behind, 55 points to Albion 3 goals, 2 behinds, 20 points. The goal kickers were 1 goal for Fin, Oliver and Adam. Two goals for Dean, Perry and Jack H.

In our second game we played Sunshine Harvester with Miles as captain. We played a great game all round with really improved defence. The final score was Sunshine Harvester 0 goals and 1 behind, to Footscray West 6 goals, 3 behinds, 39 points, with Oliver kicking 3 and Dean, Jack H and Dylan with one goal.

But the real challenge was our third game playing Yarraville West Primary who had beaten us the last few years and stopped us qualifying for the next stage.

Dylan was captain in our final game. We had a bad start with Dylan losing the toss and Yarraville West kicking the first goal with the aid of the breeze. With the ball in our half for long periods, we got so close to scoring with myself missing a sitter on the goal line but it did not matter because Perry got a free kick in the goal square and he scored. At half time FWPS were up by 1 point and it started to pelt down with rain. In the first ten minutes it was all in our half but we still couldn’t manage to score a goal, only kicking a few behinds,

And that made the scores 10-6 our way. We had scares in defence in the last 5 minutes but thanks to Jack M with great defending, Perry with some good intercept marks, and a great goal saving tackle from Dylan, we came out victorious 10-6 which means that we are going to regionals for the first time in our history… we think.

Thanks to Marco, Michael Kordick, and James, who was injured, for coaching and helping, for the parents always cheering us on throughout the games, and also thanks to the bus driver and umpires.

Thanks for listening.
