Arts Club T-shirt Design

This term in Arts Club, students have been busy designing and creating their very own T-shirts using the screen-printing process. Each student brought their own ideas to life, turning sketches and concepts into groovy, wearable artworks.

After exposing their designs onto screens coated in photographic emulsion, students rolled up their sleeves and squeegeed ink through the screens to bring their visions to life. The excitement of peeling back the screen and seeing their designs printed onto fabric was a highlight for everyone.

Arts Club students have left this term with something personal they can wear with pride — a reminder that their creativity doesn’t just stay in the classroom, it can be part of everyday life.

VCE Visual Communication Design Folio Photoshoot

Our VCE Visual Communication Design students have thoroughly enjoyed working in the new Photographic Studio as they complete their final presentations and prepare folios for assessment.

The studio has been an invaluable resource, allowing students to professionally photograph their products and architectural models. Those focusing on leisurewear or sportswear fashion have also taken advantage of the space to stage photoshoots, producing high-quality images of their designs. From developing initial concepts, drawing on contemporary trends, cultural influences, and personal style, through to refining their final pieces, students have followed the design process to create innovative and original solutions.

This impressive body of work, along with final folios from both Arts and Technology, will be celebrated at the VCE Arts and Technology Showcase, opening on Wednesday, 8 October at 7pm in the SPC OCA Pavilion.

Re-Assemble Art Education Conference

Our Arts staff recently attended the Re-assemble Art Education Conference held at Federation University’s SMB Campus in Ballarat, in partnership with the Ballarat International Foto Biennale. The theme of the conference was Inclusive Futures—Exploring Art and Innovation in Arts Education. The event brought together educators, artists, and researchers to explore how traditional practices and emerging technologies can shape more accessible, creative learning environments.

Our Arts staff were thoroughly impressed by the keynote speaker, artist Kate Just, who spoke on The Power of Craft in a Digital Age. Educators participated in new hands-on experiences that helped them develop new skills and perspectives for the classroom. Highlights included sessions on Creative Arts and neurodiversity, exploration of AI art and ethics, and a workshop on digital screen printing, which showed how technology can streamline artmaking in the classroom.

Our Arts staff welcomed the opportunity to rethink art education as a space where inclusion, creativity, and critical reflection meet. Art Education Victoria was keen to hold the conference in Ballarat, as it is recognised as a growing hub for arts learning and innovation.
