Dear Families and Friends,
Recently I was given a book to read called “Feeling Grateful - How to add more goodness to your gladness,” written by Kobi Yamada and illustrated by Charles Santoso. Something that resonates with me . . .
Gratitude isn’t just something you have, it’s something you learn and develop. It’s a life skill. You can grow your capacity for gratefulness. You can cultivate your ability to pause, to look around, to be surprised and delighted by the world around you. When you slow down, you can better honor and feel the gift of each moment and the opportunity that comes with it
Life is a gift. And it is for you.
The best things in life often aren’t things at all. They are experiences lived, emotions felt, and connections made. These are the things that sparkle in our memory. And it is when you are feeling grateful that we can perform our most beautiful acts and appreciate the most treasured moments.

District Athletics
On Thursday 27th August, 65 St Justin’s students proudly represented our school at the District Athletics Competition. Our students competed with enthusiasm, determination and pride, demonstrating excellent sportsmanship throughout the day.
It was wonderful to see students encouraging and supporting one another, celebrating each other’s achievements and representing St Justin’s with such a positive attitude.
The successes of the day was highlighted with St Justin's taking out the overall shield and being crowned the 2026 Wellington District Athletics Champions.
We are very proud to announce that 24 students have progressed through to the Division Athletics Competition, which will be held on Wednesday 7th October. This is a fantastic achievement, and we wish all of our students the very best as they continue their athletics journey.

Book Week Parade
This year, our school celebrated Book Week 2026 with the theme “A Symphony of Stories".
Students arrived dressed as their favourite book characters, showcasing creativity, imagination, and a love of reading. From classic storybook characters, a magical hero, a curious explorer, the costumes truly brought stories to life and filled our school with colour and excitement.
We extend a big thank you to our staff, families, and community for supporting Book Week and helping us create such a memorable day. Together, we celebrated the joy of reading while showing that adventure can be found both in books and in real life!
Thanks to everyone for their support with Book Week and a special thank you to Mrs Wegmann for organising and hosting today - much appreciated.
Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee Finalists
Congratulations to the following students who will be representing St Justin’s in the Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee Finals! They have done an amazing job to reach Round 2. The State/Territory Finals will take place next Wednesday 2nd September.

Father's Day Stall
A reminder that the P&F are holding the St Justin's Annual Father's Day Stall on Thursday 3rd September and to get you all excited about what's coming they are sharing the Stall Guide with you to help you out. Cost of items is between $2 and $8 and the raffle tickets are back!

Congratulations
We would like to congratulate and share some exciting news about Ariana D from 6SL and an incredible opportunity she has been selected for through her Italian school, CO.AS.IT.
Ariana was part of a selection process involving approximately 700 students across Melbourne and Sydney around 350 students from each city. From these students, only six children from Australia were selected to travel to Italy and participate in an international soccer tournament in Puglia.
Ariana will be travelling to Italy for approximately two weeks during the Australian school holidays, so the program will take place over the school holiday period.
While in Italy, she will join children from different countries from all over the world. She will have the amazing opportunity to play soccer in a stadium and compete against teams from other countries.
During her time in Italy, Ariana will also be coached and trained by professional soccer coaches. She will have the opportunity to meet professional soccer players, including Olympians, which will be an incredible experience for her as a young player who is so passionate about soccer.
The program is not only about soccer but also about bringing young people together through sport, culture and their Italian heritage. Ariana will be able to experience life in Italy, make friendships with children from around the world and represent Australia on an international stage.
What makes this opportunity even more special is that the trip is fully funded by the Italian Government, including Ariana’s return flights, accommodation, hotel stay and meals.
We are incredibly proud of Ariana. To be one of only six children selected from Australia from approximately 700 students is such a wonderful achievement and a once in a lifetime opportunity that we know she will remember forever.
Footy Colours Day - Friday 18th September
We’re getting behind Fight Cancer Foundation’s Footy Colours Day to help support Australian kids and families affected by cancer.
On Friday 18th September, students are invited to come to school dressed in their favourite footy colours! Wear your team’s jumper, scarf, beanie, colours or other footy gear and help us fill the school with team spirit for an important cause.
Every day, 3 Aussie kids are diagnosed with cancer, and many families need to travel long distances from home for treatment. Money raised through Footy Colours Day helps Fight Cancer Foundation provide accommodation and support for families during this challenging time.

AFLW 2-for-1 Ticket Offer
As part of you school’s connection with the Collingwood Football Club through our Fan Engagement Zone, we’re pleased to extend an offer for our students, staff, and their families to attend the AFLW Round 3 match this weekend against Hawthorn.
Please find the attached flyer for full details. Tickets are a 2-for-1 offer with all Juniors (14 and under) going free and can be redeemed by scanning the QR code provided.

Working Bee
Last weekend, a small team of 5 parent volunteers conducted a working bee. Despite the small number, they were able to repair the pathway in the outdoor kitchen, clean out the garden shed, remove leaves from the garden beds and wash down the decking outside the Art Room and Italian Room - it all helps make our school look good and feel safer. There's still garden soil next to the gardens - we’ll relocate that in the next few days.
We’re extremely grateful to the work completed by Adam and his team - keeping our school looking good is important to all of us.

If you have a child starting Prep in 2027, please be sure to continue to check your emails for updated information and for any outstanding items that may need to be sent to the office.

Privacy policy, students and parent updated
Our Medical Management Policy has changed.
The updated documents are available on the MACS policies webpage in the ‘Governance’ tab.
Parking
A reminder to all drivers to please be considerate when parking, ensuring that we park close to the curb and close to driveways, leaving enough room for others to park behind, if possible. We should never park over driveways – not only is it the law, but it is also disrespectful to our neighbours. Safety in and around the school is a responsibility we all share. If parking in the 2 minute zone, please stay with your vehicle – the 2 min zone was never designed for drivers to park and run down to the school.
We have also had reports of drivers double parking and calling children into the car when double parked on Whalley Drive. Whilst it might be a time saver, it is a disaster waiting to happen, which would affect our whole school community - safety is a responsibility that we all share.
