Congratulations to Sarah Van Nieukerk on being the recipient of a 2025 School Sport Victoria Recognition Award. The award recognises Sarah’s hard work and dedication to school sport. This is a significant award, and Sarah will be presented with a trophy at an assembly by a representative of School Sport Victoria. As a community we know how hard Sarah works and the level of dedication that she gives to our school and it is wonderful to see that it is recognised beyond our community. Congratulations Sarah and we look forward to celebrating your achievement. When we have a confirmed date of the presentation I will notify you as I know many of you will be keen to attend!
Student Attitude to School Survey
Each year, students in Year 4-6 are invited to complete the Attitudes to School Survey (AToSS). This survey provides students with an opportunity to share their thoughts and experiences about the school. Students will be asked to complete this survey at school between June 1st - June 12th. The information collected helps our school better understand how our students are feeling and identify areas of strength as well as opportunities for improvement. If you do not want your child to do the survey, please opt out by emailing eltham.north.ps@education.vic.gov.au before the survey commences on June 1. A separate Compass news feed was sent to all parents of students in years 4-6 with further information.
Staff Professional Learning Day
On Monday staff had the privilege of being led by Brendan Lee in professional learning. The focus was on Mathematics. Staff found the day both inspiring and affirming. It was great to be able to identify areas of our teaching practice that are considered by an expert to be best practice. It was equally inspiring to receive guidance on further ways to enhance our teaching of Mathematics at our school.
Maths Open Day
On Wednesday we held our Maths Day. In session one families joined their children in the classroom for maths activities and games and some stayed on for the parade in session2. In the following sessions students worked in multiage groups to on activities together. It was a very engaging day and we were fortunate that the rain stayed away for our parade.
