Leadership Report

A very warm Welcome Back to our returning students and Welcome to our new students and families. Whether you're a new school starter in reception or joining us in another year level, we're looking forward to sharing the learning journey with you. We hope your break was relaxing and enjoyable, that as parents you enjoyed not having to make lunches for a few weeks, and that you didn't spend the break recovering from an illness or injury.

Term 3 is packed full of exciting events to look forward to including the Festival of Music Choir performance, Sports Day and Year 6 Market Day to name a few. Along with Year 5 camp and exciting learning opportunities, the term ahead is a big one.

I am so happy to be back at Magill School in the role of Assistant Principal for Inclusive Education. Warm welcome messages last week from students and parents were humbling and made that first week very special.

What makes Magill School a wonderful place to work, learn and play is the community which has been developed across the years. We're a large school, but often it feels much smaller, as students collaborate and work together across year levels. A large contributing factor to that warm community feeling at Magill School is the involvement and participation in school life from our parents and guardians. We're always looking to increase parent and guardian involvement at school, so if you are one of our new families and would like to get involved with a Governing Council Committee, please get in touch with the relevant committee leader below:

This week students have enjoyed listening to author Tania Ingram as she shared her experiences of being an author, and the inspiration for her stories. Feedback from students and teachers has been really positive, with everyone enjoying Tania's engaging presentation.

In extra special news this week, Magill School old scholar BRITTANY CASTELUZZO claimed Gold in the 200m Butterfly event at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Congratulations to Brittany and her family, an amazing achievement which has no doubt required a lot of hard work, goal setting and persistence along the way.

Finally, a reminder to observe reduced speed limits around the school during pick up and drop off times. Adelaide Road drop off zones are not parking zones, and drivers are asked to stay with their vehicle. If your child(ren) are not at the pick up zone, please drive on and do a loop of the school. Adelaide Road becomes especially congested at after school pick up, which can impact on traffic flow along Penfold Road.
