Dear Westbreen PS Families,
Stop Work on Thursday 23rd July
The Australian Education Union has called on its members to take strike action on Thursday 23 July 2026. Similar to the last stop work day, information has been sent via email to all families. We endeavour to provide information to families as soon as possible to keep you informed, and acknowledge and appreciate the flexibility, support and understanding from families at this time.
Foundation 2027 Enrolment closing date
A reminder that enrolments for Foundation 2027 are due by Friday 31st of July. Please contact our fantastic Community and Enrolment officer Miss Kerry or one of our friendly office staff for more information or support if you need it. Find out more on the Westbreen Community News page of this newsletter.
Bridget is retiring!
Our wonderful canteen manager Bridget Kille is planning to retire! Bridget has managed the canteen for many years, as well as volunteered in a range of roles, including school council president for many years before that. Her contributions to our school community have made a huge impact and she will be greatly missed. We will now embark on the challenge of finding a replacement. We will be advertising the position soon - if you are interested, do not hesitate to contact the office for more information.
Staffing update
Our Year 1K teacher, Kristy Monaghan is taking leave for the remainder of the year. I would like to wish Kristy all the best during her time on leave.
Creator Club challenge
Creator Club Congratulations to Beatrix in 4C who was the winner of the paper food challenge this week at Creator Club with her 3D fruit bowl.
Loomband and Beed with Me Club
The students held their first club session last Friday in the Library with 30 students attending! Students made a wide array of friendship bracelets using beads and loombands. It was wonderful to see so many students participating and showing their creativity. Donations are still needed for this club. Any donations of Loombands, beads, charms or other jewellery making materials would be greatly appreciated.
NAIDOC Week
Check out the fantastic work done by our students to celebrate NAIDOC Week.
Yours in education,
