Principal Report

What a busy and productive start to Term 3 it has been! We continue to make strong and positive gains across all areas of the College. Our recent NAPLAN results were outstanding, showing a continuing positive trajectory with our results. . We have also received our 2026 Attitudes to School Survey data, which once again shows positive trends across all measures. These results are a wonderful reflection of the ongoing work of our students and staff and demonstrate that we are continuing to track positively towards the goals outlined in our Strategic Plan. There is much to celebrate, and we look forward to building on this momentum throughout the remainder of the year.

Without question, one of the social highlights of any year is the Year 12 Formal. This special evening is always one of the most anticipated events on the school calendar, and the Class of 2026 certainly made it one to remember. Students arrived looking absolutely spectacular, and it was wonderful to see them enjoying the evening together as they celebrated friendships that have often spanned many years. The atmosphere was filled with excitement, laughter and plenty of dancing, creating memories that will stay with our students long after they leave Keysborough College. Watching our young people celebrate this important milestone with such maturity and genuine enjoyment was a reminder of just how much they have grown throughout their time at the College. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who worked behind the scenes to make the evening such a memorable success, especially the formal committee and the staff leading the Formal Committee: Ms Huang, Ms Neave, Ms Chieu and Ms Peach. A huge thank you to the DJ on the night, Mr Lechowicz, who knew exactly the right tunes to keep the dancefloor full all night. As our Year 12 students enter the final months of their schooling, the Formal stands as one of the defining highlights of what has already been an exceptional final year.

I am delighted to recognise members of our teaching staff who have been appointed as Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) assessors for the 2026 Year 12 examinations. Selection as a VCAA assessor is a significant professional honour that recognises outstanding subject expertise and a commitment to excellence in teaching and assessment. Their appointments not only acknowledge their individual professionalism but also reinforce the high quality of teaching and learning taking place every day at Keysborough College. We are incredibly proud of their achievements.

At Acacia Campus, we are delighted that our new Year 8 Learning Space has now been completed. The transformation of the former open-plan classroom into four contemporary learning spaces provides engaging and purpose-built environments that will support outstanding teaching and learning for many years to come.

Meanwhile, construction continues at Banksia Campus on the new Outdoor Classroom adjacent to the Vocational Centre. This innovative space will provide students with exciting new opportunities for outdoor learning, collaboration and wellbeing activities, complementing the excellent facilities already available across the campus. It is wonderful to see this project progressing so well, and we eagerly anticipate its completion midway through the term.

This term, we have been busy undertaking subject selections for our Year 10 students preparing to enter Year 11 in 2027, with appointments held in Week 2 at Acacia and Week 3 at Banksia. Each student and their parent/carer had an individual 20-minute appointment with a member of the College Principal Team or Senior Leadership Team member. It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout of parents! The appointments provided an excellent opportunity for productive conversations about the VCE and VCE VM pathways, as well as subject choices tailored to each student’s individual interests, strengths and future aspirations. We also commenced our 2027 subject selection process for Year 9 students in Week 1, with a dedicated P.5 assembly where students were introduced to the range of pathways and subject choices available to them for Year 10 in 2027. Parents and carers were also invited to attend this session, and we appreciated those who were able to join us.

Our Year 10 Applied Learning students have been putting their learning into action through their Community at Work subject, undertaking beautification projects at our local primary schools. Our Acacia students have been working at Keysborough Primary School, while our Banksia students have been contributing to projects at Spring Parks Primary School. These pictures show the fabulous effort from the Acacia Applied Learning class, who have now completed their painting project at Keysborough Primary. What a transformation! I will keep you updated when the Banksia students finish their project and show share pictures of their project. We are incredibly proud of the students’ hard work and commitment to making a positive contribution to our local community.

As we head towards the second half of the term, there is much to celebrate across the College. We look forward to building on this positive momentum and finishing the term strongly. Thank you to our students, staff and families for your continued commitment and support.
