Important Reminder
SunSmart
Please ensure you are familiar with both the Extreme Heat Policy and the Sun Protection Policy coming into the warmer weather.
Extreme heat policy
SharePoint>School documents>All JSA policies> OHS policies> Extreme Weather Conditions policy
Implementation
On days of extreme heat, high winds, poor air quality, or threatening weather, all students will be kept indoors. This decision will be made by the Principal in consultation with the Leadership Team, using information from the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), Department of Health Heat Health Alerts, and DET IRIS warnings.
The predicted UV rating can be found on the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA Realtime UV Index). The ambient temperature and UV rating will be used to determine the level of risk to students. UV ratings of 6-7 is high, 8-10 (very high) and 11 above is considered extreme.

Supporting Transitions from the Playground to the Classroom
As we continue working towards our objective of supporting smooth and successful transitions from the playground to the classroom, I will be creating Video Self-Modelling (VSM) videos of students demonstrating expected transition routines, including waiting for their teacher, lining up and walking to the classroom.
Once these videos have been emailed to staff, please incorporate them into your daily morning circle routine. Regular viewing will help reinforce expectations, provide clear visual examples and support students to develop greater independence and consistency during transitions.

Week 3
Welcome to week 3 of Term 4.
- Assessments: Please continue to assess the students as part of the reporting that you will be completing. Let me know if you need further guidance on this. Please refer to PLC's Term 4 documents for more information Term 4 - PLCs - Google Drive.
GraduationI have created a folder on the Drive:
T:\Grade 6 Graduation\Grade 6 Graduation 202
Please add:
- a maximum of 6 photos including school photo for each of the student that is graduating from your class. I will then be creating a PowerPoint for the day.
-An one-minute speech per students
-"The speech should be generic so we can all participate in comments, “in jokes” are not inclusive and detract from enjoyment. They should include:
-An introduction regarding their journey at JSA.
-Reflection on their individual characteristics that have been recognised by staff and students at JSA.
-Reference to the role their family/carers have played in their lives.
-Reference to their career options once they leave JSA." (Year 6 Graduation Framework)
Example:
Alex began his journey at JSA in Prep and has grown in confidence and independence, forming friendships and discovering new interests along the way. Staff and students know him for his kindness, sense of humour and enthusiasm for music. His family’s encouragement and partnership with the school have supported his learning and helped celebrate his achievements. As Alex moves into his secondary years, we look forward to seeing him build on his strengths, explore new opportunities and continue doing the things he loves.

Transitions (between locations) focus
We are beginning our focus on transitions this term. Would you mind please reviewing the email sent by Sean on Monday 5 October titled "line up." There is a room number and social story attached to the email. Can you please incorporate this story into your work program (it can be amended as necessary). Morning circle and/or literacy sessions are good times to read it.
Recess
The breezeway is currently closed at recess times. 1:1 students may still access it if it is a preferred location.
If you are rostered on student and are unfamiliar with them, please let Amelia or Sean know so that we can support you to understand their needs. CRTs and CRES are not to support students 1:1 during recess times. Again, please let Amelia or Sean know if you need help with this.
Tristan M (R20)
Please support Tristan M to go to playground 5 or 6. He is not to be on the breezeway. Please make sure the breezeway toilets are locked. He is not to use the breezeway toilets. He uses the old art toilets only. Call Amelia, Sean or Room 20 if you need support with Tristan.
Saundrei G (R21)
Is to only have familiar staff supporting him for recess breaks: Amelia, Sean, Juri, Karla, Sadie, Minsha & Hiba. He is currently accessing the playground and trampoline near the SAKG garden.
Shafay A (R19)
Is to only have familiar staff supporting him for recess breaks: Amelia, Sean, Mary-Jane, Raj & Fiona.
