Beyond RCC: Global Connections

Beyond RCC: Global Connections was launched this week when our students had the opportunity to learn alongside visiting Japanese students from Imagine Education Australia Study Tour Group in the classroom and playground, building relationships and sharing experiences.  Thank you to our willing buddies!

RCC is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of three high school students who recently competed at the NSW Athletics State Junior Championships in Sydney from 12 to 15 March.

Bella Delaney (Year 11) competed in both the women’s javelin and discus and achieved an impressive result, finishing 15th in the State in both events.

Nate Wilson (Year 9) also performed strongly across multiple events, competing in the 100m hurdles, 100m sprint and 4 x 100m relay. Nate placed 11th in the State in the hurdles, 22nd in the 100m, and was part of the Ballina Allstars Athletics 4 x 100m relay team.

Oscar Levack (Year 8) had an exceptional championship campaign. He competed in the 400m, where he came 7th. He also competed in the 300m hurdles, achieving a personal best time of 43.17 seconds and winning a bronze medal.

Oscar also joined Nate Wilson in the Ballina 4 x 100m relay team, with the boys finishing 5th in the State with a time of 48.04 seconds, the first time a Ballina team has ever made the finals and half the team was from RCC!

In other exciting news, Oscar has also qualified for the Athletics Australia National Junior Championships to be held in Brisbane from 15 to 20 April during the school holidays. He will compete in the Under 15 400m and Under 15 200m hurdles. The qualification standards are tough, and Oscar is thrilled to have made it through in two events to compete against Australia’s best.

We congratulate Bella, Nate and Oscar on their wonderful achievements. We wish Oscar all the very best as he prepares to compete on the national stage in Brisbane over the break.
