REMEMBRANCE DAY
11 NOVEMBER
Friday 10 November
The school gathered in the stadium (Years 7 to 10) to pay our respects to remember those who gave their lives in service to their country, those who returned home injured or ill, and those who bravely serve our country today.
This year marks the 105th anniversary of the Armistice that ended fighting with Germany in World War I.
The assembly began with Aylshah Beers (Year 10) reading the Acknowledgment to Country and the importance of Remembrance Day.
The Ode was then read by York Newell (Year 8), followed by The Last Post, a minute’s silence and The Rouse.
Sigourney Crocker, Axel Cove, Dylan Weinert and Callum Eade (Year 7) spoke about the Origins of Remembrance Day.
Oscar Geddes (Year 12) accompanied by Ryan Morrison (Year 9) spoke about his involvement in the Army Cadets, what it involves and the significance of Remembrance Day.
The assembly concluded with Charley Reynolds (Year 11) reading Flanders Fields by John McCrae.
A special thank you to our Student Leaders for this significant assembly.
Saturday 11 November
Taylah Mae Gundry (Year 10 Captain) and Ms Edwards had the great privilege today of representing Lilydale High School at the Remembrance Day Service hosted by Lilydale RSL.
Lest We Forget.
