Clontarf continues to be busy with the last two weeks having a focus being on hosting the 2024 Victorian Clontarf Cup. The boys have not only been pulling their socks up on the footy field, but in the school environment with the ‘Clonny Cup’ acting as a great carrot ensuring attendance and behaviour remains at a high standard. Several of our boys have showed positive improvements in these areas in the lead up to the carnival which demonstrates the importance of having these goals for the boys to aim for. I will get more info out on the carnival in the next edition but in short, we hosted five Clontarf Academies from all over Victoria for a great day of footy played in perfect conditions. I just want to send out a huge thanks to St. Patrick’s College in the way they supported the event and the boys for the way they carried themselves on the day.
In honour of all our mums, the boys hosted the mothers on St Patrick’s College staff to a pancake morning tea last Friday. It was great to see the staff come in and enjoy some pancakes with peaches, syrup and cream, lovingly served by our boys. Mothers play a huge and often undervalued role in our lives so a big thanks to all the mothers out there for what you do.
Last Tuesday we were able to host the visiting Christies Beach Clontarf Academy for morning training. These opportunities are an important part of what we do. Over a few games of basketball and backboard footy, the boys got around each other sharing a hot breakfast and stories from home. Our morning trainings have been gathering momentum with big numbers, especially for our outdoor trainings on a Friday when the boys hit the oval for some footy drills and mini games. The cold conditions not cold enough to deter our boarders from the Top End!
