 Welcome

Wawa, Wominjika.

Here at Old Orchard Primary School, we acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land we visit each day, the Wurrunguri and Woiwurrung people of the Kulin nation.  We acknowledge and respect the elders and leaders past and present and the elders and leaders of all of the cultures and nationalities that are part of the Old Orchard Primary School community.  We express our gratitude towards the orchards that were kept in place by the peoples on this land before us.  We thank the traditional owners for sharing this beautiful land that we all love, and for keeping the land, sky, waterways and animals all in great condition for thousands of years, not only for themselves but for all the generations to come.

Open Evening

Thank-you to everyone who attended our Old Orchard Open Evening last night. It was wonderful to see so many current and future families visiting classrooms and special activities and seeing the many wonderful features of our school and our students took great pride in showing off their work and in some cases, participating in musical performances. The efforts and contributions of our amazing staff were again on display and greatly appreciated as always.

School Council

Our May School Council meeting was held earlier this week with a highlight being the Student Leader report presented by School Captains, Harriett and Sullivan. They spoke very confidently about what has been happening across the school during this term and shared some examples of student work, before taking questions from Council members.

VSSS - Victorian State School Spectacular Dance & Choir

In 2026, we have two groups of Year 5 & 6 students participating in the Victorian State School Spectacular to be conducted at John Cain Arena in August. This is a significant commitment on the part of the students, as well as staff members Bec Mitchell and Rhiannon Trimby. The Dance group has already participated in several rehearsals at local schools.

Semester 1 Student Reports

As previously advised, the teacher comments that usually form part of Semester 1 and 2 student reports will not feature in Semester 1. This follows an agreement between the Department of Education and the Industrial Organisations representing school staff. Parents / carers will still receive a Semester 1 report, however it will not include individualised teacher comments.

Front Entrance Update

The automatic door at the front entrance has been fully installed and we look forward to using it in the near future. The contractors are doing a great job with the complex task of constructing the ramp; we anticipate this will be finished and ready for use in the next week or two.

Congratulations

We are very excited to announce the safe arrival of baby Leo, a gorgeous addition to Nan Ternai and husband Ben’s family. Everyone is doing extremely well and we look forward to meeting Leo soon.
