Multilit

During Term 2, students in the MultiLit Program have been working hard developing their phonic skills. 

What does Phonics involve?

• Recognising the sounds that each individual letter makes.
• Identifying the sounds that different combinations of letters can make - such as ‘sh’ or ‘oo’.
• Blending sounds together from left to right to make a word.  Students can then use this knowledge to ‘decode’ new words that they hear or see. This is the first important step in learning to read.
