Lunch Time Clubs

Coding Club

Coding Club has started once again! Every Thursday during the first half of lunch, students are able to come along to the Curiosity Room to learn the fundamentals of coding. So far this term we have been looking at Scratch, a block coding program that teaches logic, algorithmic thinking and coding skills without needing to learn a coding language.

The students have been using scratch to create simple games, learning skills such as programming variables, if statements and very simple functions that cause something to happen when different events take place. Students have made very simple platformer games (similar to a simple early Mario) and Pong, along with different early controllers for other games.

Later in the year we will look at using these same coding skills in different settings, such as coding various robots, using coding to solve problems outside of game design and branching into animation.

If you are interested in learning more about Coding Club, come along every Thursday!

MPW Jam Music Club

The MPW Jam Music Club is a chance for students of all ages to play music together, practice their instrument or experiment with making music. Students are welcome to come to the performance space on Tuesdays in the first half of lunch to make some noise and have fun. No musical experience is required; please bring your own instrument if you can.

Allocate your School Saving Bonus NOW

Families can continue to use School Saving Bonus (SSB) funds until Monday, 30 June 2025 to buy uniform or to allocate funds to school activities using the parent/carer online system.

Any funds remaining after 30 June 2025, including online voucher amounts that have not been redeemed, will become a school activities credit held against the family account for each student.

However, the credit will not be available on your family account at our school until early August. To use any remaining SSB funds to cover the cost of school activities in July, please refer to the SSB online system and allocate the funds to school activities before 30 June 2025.

To learn more about the SSB online system, download the step-by-step System guide for parents and carers (DOCX, 945KB) or watchthis School Saving Bonus video. System guide translations are also available in 14 languages.

The Department of Education’s SSB contact centre will remain available until 30 June 2025. The contact centre can be reached by calling 1800 338 663, between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm on weekdays.

After this date, please contact the office for any SSB related questions.

Specialists

On the week beginning the 4th August we will be celebrating our specialist programs. This will be during the same week as the 3-way conferences. We will be providing opportunity for families to visit and enjoy a Book Fair in the library, artwork and learning in Japanese in  the Creative Arts and Japanese Rooms.

More information will be sent out next term, stay tuned.
