Community Car Park Reminder – Safety at Pick Up and Drop Off

We have recently been made aware of some concerns regarding traffic and parking behaviours around the Greenvale West Community Centre car park during school pick up and drop off times.

While this space is available for our families to use, we ask that all members of our community are mindful of safety and respectful use of the area. This includes:

Avoiding double parking or blocking other vehicles
Not parking on nature strips
Driving slowly and carefully through the car park
Being mindful of young children and families moving through the area
Ensuring roads and access points remain clear

These areas are shared with the preschool and wider community, and it is important that we all work together to keep them safe and accessible for everyone.

Years 3–6 Athletics Day – Thursday 14th May

Our annual Years 3–6 Athletics Day is coming up on Thursday 14th May. The event will be held at Sprint Athletics Centre, where students will take part in a range of track and field events, earning points for their house and potentially qualifying for the school athletics team.

All students will travel to and from the venue by bus, so it is important that students arrive at school on time. Buses will depart promptly at 9:15am and return to school at approximately 2:30pm.

Students will remain at the venue for the duration of the day, so please ensure they come prepared with appropriate clothing for the weather. They will also need to bring their lunch, snacks and at least two drink bottles.

District Cross Country - Friday 15th May

Selected students will represent our school at the District Cross Country on Friday 15th May. You would have been sent a Compass excursion form regarding if your child has been selected.

Students will travel by bus, departing at 9:15am and returning at approximately 2:00pm.

Runners should come prepared with a packed lunch, snacks, two drink bottles, and warm clothing. An extra pair of shoes and socks is also recommended.

As this is an outdoor winter event, it will go ahead in most weather conditions.

SRC

This fortnight Vidhula and our student representative council, the SRC, lead a very successful lunchtime club of puzzles in the library. This was entirely student lead and is a wonderful example of the impact student leaders have on our school community.

Collecting Children During the Day

If you need to collect your child early, please notify the office in advance so we can have them ready for you. Schools are busy places, and it can take time to locate students, particularly if they are in specialist classes or other learning areas.

To minimise disruptions, please avoid collections during:

• Play 1: 10:58 - 11:28

• Play 2: 1:14 - 1:44

During these times, children may not hear PA announcements, and buildings are locked for safety, making it difficult to collect belongings.

Our Prep tours have continued over the past fortnight, and it has been wonderful to welcome new families into our school.
