NARANGA CLEAN UP DAYS

This week our Upper Juniors and Pathways students participated in the clean-up of our school grounds. They focused on collecting rubbish in the senior area using large tongs and a bucket over the two days. Students sorted and grouped rubbish into piles and then worked out whether items could be recycled instead of going into landfill.

Items collected on Tuesday included: nine pieces of foil, eighteen wrappers, five papers and six plastic items. Thursday results varied in the amount of paper and soft plastics.

By emptying food into containers, we can reduce wrappers and plastic waste. Paper items can be recycled into the yellow bins and Officeworks will recycle used plastic pens, lids, and markers. Being careless with rubbish is harmful to our environment. Dropping rubbish washes up into drains and ends up in our rivers and oceans. Birds mistake rubbish for food and can die. Let us be responsible and keep our school grounds clean and tidy.

Thank you to the dedicated students that took part in the clean up this week, they did a wonderful job of keeping our school grounds tidy.
