There will be market stalls, food trucks, rides, music from current and past students, art works, sporting games, tours, museum opening and book sales and signings of ‘100 Years 100 Voices’. I strongly encourage you to come along and enjoy this wonderful event. Year 10 Formal
We had a huge number of Year 10 students celebrate their year at the Year 10 Formal at Functions by the Bay on Friday 18 October. There was a fantastic feeling amongst all in attendance with a busy dance floor and photo booth! Thank you to Ms Paige Jessulat, Ms Jasmine Rabinov, Mr Liam McDonald, Ms Bianca Johnson and Ms Leah Hannas for their efforts organising and overseeing this fantastic event. Thank you to Mr Darin Joyce, Ms Hannah Martin, Ms Victoria Stewart for their efforts supporting the Year 10 team and all the staff who attended.
End of Year Music Concert
I would like to sincerely thank Mr Ben Braithwaite and Mr Peter Sharp for organising a wonderful End of Year Music Concert at the Frankston Arts Centre on Monday 21 October. Congratulations to all of our Instrumental and Classroom Music students and staff: Mr Dean Addison, Mr Ben Braithwaite, Mr Isaac Bakker, Ms Pauline Coates, Ms Gill Kinnear, Ms Peta Laughlin, Mr Andrew McAdam and Ms Kim Starr. The quality of musical performances on the night was outstanding, as was the special guest compere Alumni Mr Luke Hunter. It was wonderful to celebrate our centenary through the musical performances visiting some major periods of musical influence in society.
World Teachers’ Day
On Friday 25 October we celebrated World Teachers’ Day! I along with the Principal Team are so grateful to work with such wonderful staff who motivate, inspire, teach and support our students to be better learners and people. They continue to make such a positive difference in the lives of our young people and their families.
Peninsula Applied Learning (PAL) Awards
On Tuesday 22 October, we attended the 2024 PAL Awards at Mornington Racecourse to recognise the excellence and achievements of students in the Frankston/Mornington Peninsula region undertaking the VCE Vocational Major/Vocation Pathway Certificate. Congratulations to Year 12 students:
- Jamie Adams
- Trey Lawson
- Riley Oxley
Thank you to Mr Paul Don, Ms Brittany Harvey and Mrs Kim Drever for their work in nominating the students and in addition to Ms Paige Jessulat for showcasing the work of the VCE VM students in the annual PAL Magazine.
The evening was extra special this year as Mrs Sharon Bourne, Year 12 Careers Practitioner, was recognised with a ‘Lifetime Achievement’ Award as recognition of her outstanding work in the VCAL/VCE VM Applied Learning Area. Sharon is incredibly humble and always student focused in all she does. It was such a privilege seeing Sharon be recognised by the network for the notable impact she has had to Applied Learning and Careers education.
Thank you to Ms Tiff Greenhill and Ms Brittany Harvey for attending with myself and celebrating these students, their families, and staff.
2025 School Captains
Congratulations to these students on their appointment as our 2025 School Captains. We look forward to working with them and supporting their growth as they represent the rest of our students and our wonderful school community. Thank you to Mrs Sarah Bahramis for her efforts and leadership with these students.
Relay for Life | Friday 8 November
What a great day! Despite getting a bit wet at one stage, it was such a wonderful success. After the 20km coastal walk, students and staff enjoyed some pizza and wrote messages of remembrance and most importantly, hope, for those impacted by cancer. A very moving day and a massive thank you to all who supported this event. We are pleased to say that we have exceeded our fundraising goal by raising $5,939!
Well done and thank you to our Sports Leadership students, Mrs Jodie Burton, Mr Luke Rowe and Mrs Kylie Grech for their efforts.
Term 4 Casual Dress Day
Our final Casual Dress Day of 2024 raised $1,296.45 for the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Foundation through gold coin donations and bake sales.
All donations to the RCH Foundation support four key areas at the hospital, enabling access to life saving equipment and technology, supporting ground-breaking research, developing medical minds through leadership, education, and training, and supporting the best in patient and family centred care.
Thank you to all the students and teachers who donated money on the day and who supported the bake sale. Thank you to all the volunteers who baked, collected, and sold food. It was great to see the Frankston High School community band together to help and support this wonderful charity. Thank you to all our Student Leadership Council for their efforts including Mrs Sarah Bahramis, Mr Jon Christie, Mrs Mel Donegan, Ms Erin Gooding and Mr Anthony Keane.
International Students Farewell
On Tuesday 29 October, our International Student Program farewelled three International students from our school. Jason Gong, Jonathan Wang and Claire Chen, all Year 12 students, were farewelled after completing many years of study at our school. They were supported by their class members, Mrs Steph Heyes their EAL teacher, Mr Cameron Heyes, Mrs Sacha Fisher, Mrs Kelly Lin and Mrs Sharon Koning. We wish them all the best for their future study.
