40 Hour Famine
It’s estimated that about 50 million people across the world are on the brink of famine everyday, with more than half of them being children. This devastating situation demands action, and that’s why this August 25th to 26th, Suzanne Cory High School will be participating in the 2024 40 Hour Famine. This is an annual fundraising challenge, organised by World Vision, inviting individuals and groups to go without something for 40 hours, reflecting the devastating daily struggles of those facing famine. This event aims to raise awareness and funds for those facing poverty and hunger in less fortunate countries,While participants are tasked with going without something for 40 hours, this doesn’t have to be about giving up food. So whether it be giving up basic comforts such as going without technology for 40 hours, or fitness challenges like walking 40 kilometres in 40 hours, or even other creative endeavours like 40 acts of kindness across the 2 days, the choice is up to you to challenge yourself in a meaningful way. We encourage everyone to participate, spread awareness about the global issue of hunger, and raise funds together for this meaningful cause. Your involvement will further contribute to the World Vision’s programs combating famine and supporting communities in need, as well as give you a chance to win exciting prizes. The top three schools with the highest fundraising totals will be awarded prize packs, celebrating your efforts and dedication.
