Principal's Message

Welcome Back to Term Four

It has been wonderful to welcome everyone back to Launching Place Primary School for Term Four. We have made a really strong start, with students settling quickly back into learning routines and bringing plenty of energy and enthusiasm to their classrooms and the playground.

There is already a lovely sense of purpose across the school, and we are looking forward to a busy and exciting final term filled with learning, celebrations, special events and opportunities for our students to shine.

Thank you to our families and staff for helping us begin the term so positively. We are excited for all this term will bring.

Our Community Has Spoken - There’s Plenty to Celebrate

Our preliminary 2026 Student Attitudes to School and Parent/Carer Opinion Survey results have provided some wonderful feedback about life and learning at Launching Place Primary School.

Students told us that they feel strongly supported in their learning, with 96% positive endorsement for effective teaching time, 95% for inclusion and 93% saying they have an advocate at school. An outstanding 98% of students agreed that their teacher tells them what they are learning and why, while 87% reported a strong sense of school connectedness.

Our families also reflected very positively on the school. 88% reported overall satisfaction with the school, with 93% recognising our focus on improvement and 91% endorsing the high expectations we hold for students. Families also responded strongly to the way we support student wellbeing and confidence, with 93% positive endorsement for developing confidence and resiliency skills and 89% for student wellbeing and support.

These results are a wonderful reflection of the work happening every day across our school - strong relationships, clear teaching, high expectations and a genuine commitment to ensuring every child feels known, supported and able to succeed.

Thank you to every student and family who took the time to share their voice with us. Your feedback helps us celebrate what is working well and continue building an even stronger Launching Place Primary School.

Update on VSBA Shelter in Place Works

As part of our school’s bushfire preparedness activities, works are happening on or around our designated Shelter-in-Place building. These works are continuing into early Term 4. These works are being carried out to help ensure our Shelter-in-Place facilities remain suitable for use during the bushfire season and continue to support the safety of students, staff and visitors in the event we need to enact our emergency management procedures. The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) is working with us to carry out these works in a way that minimises disruption.  The works may include:

  • Vegetation clearance and management

  • Minor maintenance and site improvement works

  • Other activities designed to improve the preparedness and functionality of Shelter-in-Place facilities

For schools like ours located in bushfire-risk areas, vegetation must be cleared within 10 metres of our Shelter-in-Place building. If trees or gardens are required to be removed, we’ll work with VSBA to consider how best to replace them in a safer location. We appreciate your support and cooperation as these important safety-related works are completed. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the works, please contact me at school.

Walk to School Parent Survey

Thank you to all the students and families who participated in our Walk to School activities and have continued using active travel to get to and from school.

Access Health and Community is now seeking feedback from parents and carers to help evaluate whether the program—together with the recent infrastructure improvements—has supported more LPPS families to walk, ride or scoot to school.

Please support this evaluation by completing the short parent survey:

https://accesshealthandcommunity.snapforms.com.au/form/walk-to-school-parent-post-survey

Your feedback will help inform future active-travel initiatives for our school and community.

Warm regards,
