Progress You Can See: Strong Literacy Growth Across Foundation and Year 1

Our Foundation and Year 1 students have demonstrated impressive growth in literacy across the year. The latest assessment data shows strong progress from Term 1 to Term 3, with many students making significant gains and class averages increasing substantially. This growth reflects the hard work of our students, the support of families, and the dedication of our teaching staff.

Passions and Pathways Celebration

On Friday, 11 September, our Year 5 and 6 students attended the Bendigo Library to celebrate the culmination of our Passions and Pathways project. This project began with our partnership with Luciano's Pizza & Pasta Restaurant, where students had the opportunity to learn firsthand about running a successful business.

A special thank you goes to Juliette, who generously shared her knowledge and expertise with our students. She helped us understand how a business operates, how pizzas are made, and the time, effort and dedication required to achieve success in the hospitality industry.

Students were incredibly excited to design their own pizzas and even more delighted when they had the opportunity to taste their creations. Juliette's generosity extended beyond our visit, with dough balls provided for students to take home and make their own pizzas with their families, accompanied by a recipe that had been tested by one of our students.

We are sincerely grateful to Luciano's Pizza & Pasta Restaurant for welcoming us and providing such an engaging and memorable learning experience.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Passions and Pathways program for the many opportunities it has provided throughout the year. From hosting guest speakers at our school to visits to TAFE, La Trobe University, and a variety of workplaces, our students have gained valuable insights into different occupations and career pathways. These experiences have allowed our students to explore opportunities and environments they may not otherwise have had the chance to see, inspiring them to think positively about their futures.

Thank you to everyone involved for making these learning experiences possible.

A big congratulations to Grace, Zion, Harry and Zander, who confidently represented our school at the Bendigo Library celebration. Speaking in front of more than 500 guests, they shared their experiences and key learnings from our Luciano's Pizza & Pasta project. The students spoke with confidence and pride, reflecting on the valuable knowledge they gained about business, teamwork and the hospitality industry. We are incredibly proud of the way they represented themselves, our school and our Passions and Pathways journey.
