Could you host a cooking show in French? If you are a Year 9 French student, the answer is yes! For their Term 3 ALTs, students wrote scripts, made food and filmed their own cooking show. It was fantastic to see such high quality and creative work.
Year 8 Chinese students have done an outstanding job in their recent ALT writing and oral tasks. They showed great creativity by writing their own role-play or personal introduction script using the language they have learned, and then brought them to life through engaging and entertaining videos or a class presentation. A truly amazing effort from everyone.
For their Unit 2 French speaking outcome, Year 11 students each researched a different francophone festival and prepared a 4 minute class presentation, sharing what they had learnt and giving their opinion on their festival. I was very impressed with how prepared the students were for their presentation and how well they spoke in front of the class.
Our VCE French students took part in the Alliance Française Berthe Mouchette speaking exam this term. The exam is made up of both general conversation questions and then questions on a specific topic for discussion. Year 11 students discussed their Francophone festivals and Year 12 students discussed Impressionism. Congratulations to all students who took part. I am pleased to share that we had 3 students do so well that they were selected for the finals - Josie Smith and Lucas Watson-Thorp in Year 11 and Ryan McCaffrey in Year 12.
Finally, a reminder that Manon, our French assistant, is available after school on Mondays and Wednesdays in the Holloway Road library. She is very happy to help students from any year level with speaking practice, understanding grammar or assisting students to complete homework tasks.
