Principal's Message

Thank You

Thank you to all of our students, families and staff for a great year. We have much to celebrate as a community and I am grateful for each of you for your contribution each of you has made to our vibrant school community. I would like to acknowledge our class representatives, our School Council members, parent volunteers and the parents who have joined the Parents’ Association this year. Your time and commitment strengthens our school community and we welcome more families to join the Parents’ Association in 2026. We are already planning a special welcome event for our Prep families on the first day of school, as well as a whole-school welcome event on Friday 27 February—please save the date, with more information to come. Finally, my sincere thanks to our teachers and support staff for their professionalism, care, and dedication to each child’s learning and wellbeing.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Christmas.

We look forward to seeing everyone on our first day of school on Thursday 29 January.

The first day of school for Preps on Thursday 5 February.

Farewell to our Year 6 students

Congratulations to our Year 6 students, who will celebrate their graduation next Tuesday. This milestone is a wonderful opportunity to recognise their growth as learners and as young people who embody our IB Learner Profile and  school values. Throughout the year, they have led with curiosity, confidence and kindness, showing themselves to be open-minded, principled and genuinely caring members of our community. We know they will carry the friendships, skills and sense of belonging they have built at Mount View into their secondary years and we wish them every success for the future.

Food for Families and Salvation Army Christmas Appeal

A huge thank you to everyone who donated to the Food For Families drive. Your generosity ensured that we filled 40 boxes which will now be shared with families in need.   Food For Families | Food Donations | Feed a Family in Crisis

Thank you to everyone who donated to the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal. We held a special assembly this week to present all of your generous gifts to Graeme from the Waverley Salvation Army. These donations will be shared with children in our local community, and your kindness will make a meaningful difference to these children and their families on Christmas Day. Graeme was sincerely appreciative of the support shown by our Mount View community.

Sharon Dart is Retiring

This term we farewell Sharon, who is retiring after an incredible 37 years in education, including 20 wonderful years at Mount View Primary School.

Sharon has made an extraordinary contribution as a Teacher of the Deaf, supporting students with care, expertise and a strong commitment to inclusion. She is also much loved for leading our Auslan Choir, guiding students through multiple beautiful performances that have become a special part of our school’s culture.

Known for her warmth, passion, kindness and deep dedication, Sharon has supported countless students and families and has been a trusted and valued colleague to many.

As she heads into retirement, Sharon is looking forward to travelling, theatre shows, spending treasured time with her family and friends and new adventures. While she will be greatly missed, her legacy will remain a cherished part of Mount View.

Congratulations, Sharon, and thank you for everything.

Celebrating Our Students

Blackburn String Workshop

Congratulations to Lakshmi, Saeli, Annie, Angela and Sota for their commitment and hard work at this year’s North-East Region Blackburn String Workshop. With more than 100 students participating across three orchestras, our MVPS students stood out as some of the most dedicated and resilient performers. They represented our school with pride, demonstrating talent, perseverance and a genuine love of music throughout the program. Here they are with Conductor Jack Lam, a tremendous advocate for this workshop and for music education.
