Social Media Ban

As many of you may be aware the national Social Media Ban for under 16s has now come into effect.

As of 10 December, major social media platforms (including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, X, YouTube, Reddit, Twitch, among others) must take “reasonable steps” to prevent under-16s from having or creating accounts.
It is important to note that the ban does not criminalise under-16s (or their parents) simply for having an account. Instead, enforcement/penalties are directed at the platforms for non-compliance.
For some of our students, especially those who rely on social media for community or support, losing access could feel isolating. Some students may have also been addicted to the use of these sites. It is important that we monitor student behaviours and look out for signs of isolation and/or withdrawal symptoms.

Reporting

Please note that you have until Monday 3:30pm to finish up your reports on Compass. As of Tuesday 16th of December, Simeon will go through all classes to see if there are any missing information. He will get in touch if that is the case.

Families will have acess to their child's written reports and the Continuum Tracker on Wednesday the 17th of December.

2026 Start of the Year Positive Partnerships

As mentioned, every classroom teacher will be calling each family for a quick hello.

"Hi, I've / we've just got a few minutes before a meeting but wanted to take the time to introduce myself / ourselves and say that we are looking forward to having xxxx in my / our class. You will soon receive information about our year level session so I / we will see you there!"

If, during handover, a quick meeting has been recommended by the student's previous teachers, this is the time that you can suggest a meeting.
