Young Carer Art Competition

Calling all young carers!

We’ve got some exciting news. From 2 March to 31 July 2026, Carer Gateway is running the Young Carer Art Competition, and there are some huge prizes up for grabs.Create a drawing, painting, photograph or other artwork on paper or canvas inspired by the theme ‘Your Art, Your Voice’. The best entries will be showcased at a Young Carer Art Exhibition later in the year.How to Enter:

  1. Register with Carer Gateway for free: Call 1800 422 737 (Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm) to start the registration process. Our Carer Gateway team will discuss how we can support your caring role.
  2. Submit your artwork: Take a photo of your artwork and email it to CGcarerengagement@holstephealth.org.au, along with a short paragraph explaining your piece, before July 31st.

Who can enter: The competition is open to young carers aged 25 or under who care for a family member, friend or loved one, even if it’s only for a few hours a week. If this applies to someone you know - tell them to get involved!How to win a prize: We’re taking submissions from all young carers, but if you want to be in the running to win a prize you will need to be registered with Carer Gateway (it’s free!). The competition is open across three age groups:

  • 12 and under
  • 13–18 years
  • 19–25 years

Prizes for each age group:

  • 1st prize: $500
  • 2nd prize: $250
  • 3rd prize: $100

Important Dates:

  • Competition closes: 31 July 2026
  • Winners announced: 31 August 2026

Rotary Club of Shepparton South Young Picasso Art Competition 2026 Objective

The Young Picasso Art Competition provides an opportunity for young people in Years 4–12 and those aged 18–20 to explore their artistic talents and creative potential. The program aims to engage and inspire students through a community-wide art competition and public exhibition.

Monetary rewards, scholarships, and prizes will be awarded to recognize outstanding artistic achievement and encourage continued participation in the arts.

Dates:

Friday–Sunday, 11–13 September 2026

Venue:

Scott’s Uniting Church, Fryers Street, Shepparton

Times:

  • Friday opening 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
  • Saturday: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
  • Sunday: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

 

Art Categories and Mediums

Participants may submit artworks in the following categories:

Artwork can be from the last 12 months, and not have been submitted to the competition in 2025.

Painting / Drawing / Multimedia

  • Years 4–6
  • Years 7–9
  • Years 10–12
  • Open Age (18–20) for your information if you see former students

Photography

  • Primary
  • Secondary
  • Open Age (18–20) for your information if you see former students

Sculpture / Ceramics

  • Primary
  • Secondary
  • Open Age (18–20) for your information if you see former students

 

Entry Guidelines

Number of Entries per Student:

Each student may submit up to two (2) entries, each from a different medium. Examples:

  • One painting and one photograph
  • One painting and one sculpture Number of Entries per School:
  • Primary Schools:
    • Approximately 20 entries (Painting, Drawing, Photography, Multimedia)
    • Approximately 5 entries (Ceramics/Sculpture)
  • Secondary Schools:
    • Approximately 30 entries (Painting, Drawing, Photography, Multimedia)
    • Approximately 10 entries (Ceramics/Sculpture)

Artwork Presentation

All artworks must be presented in one of the following formats:

  • Framed
  • Cardboard mounted
  • Paper backed

If presentation requirements pose challenges for your school community, please contact us so we can provide assistance.

All artwork must be named with student year level and school name

 

Artwork Collection and Return

Collection:

Artworks will be collected from schools by Rotary members between Monday 24 August and Friday 4 September 2026.

Return:

We will endeavour to return artworks to schools by Friday 18 September 2026.

Open Age (18–20 years) Deliveries:

Former students aged 18–20 may deliver their artworks directly to Scott’s Uniting Church on Wednesday, 9 September 2026 between 5:00–6:00 pm.

Open Age (18-20 years) Pick up:

Sunday September 13th 4pm-5 pm
