KOORIE GARDEN PROJECT

On Tuesday, Anthea Rafferty and Chantal Dridan, from GreenPrint Projects, worked with Indigenous students from Years 2-6 on a new project aimed at invigorating the area around our Koorie garden. Students enthusiastically assisted with tidying up the existing site, before discussing ideas for improving the area. They then investigated several cuttings and samples of local indigenous plants, touching and discussing them and choosing which ones to use, while helping to create a large emu nest which will go into the garden. Future sessions will include art projects, including painting emu eggs and rocks for the garden area. Student mentors from local secondary schools will be assisting with upcoming sessions. We look forward to continuing this valuable program and improving the area for the enjoyment of the whole school.
