Acting Principal Update

EDEC Swimming

Congratulations to our fantastic students who so proudly represented our school at last week’s EDEC Swimming Carnival; Issy, Rory, Callum, Maya, Alfie Wi, Zoe and Ava.

You gave it your absolute best, and I was incredibly impressed by the encouragement you showed one another and the integrity you demonstrated throughout the day. We wish Maya, Ava and Issy the very best of luck as they progress to the District level next Tuesday. We are so proud of you and cheering you on! 🏊‍♂️👏

House Athletics

🏃‍♀️‍➡️Last Monday’s Athletics Day was shaping up to be a wild one weather-wise, but thankfully the skies mostly held off and we were treated to a fantastic day overall. Our students truly rose to the occasion, giving their best in every event, cheering one another on, and competing with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship. It was wonderful to see such strong team spirit and determination on display throughout the day.

The event ran seamlessly thanks to the outstanding organisation of Paige and Jacinta, along with the dedicated support of the entire Menzies team. A sincere thank you to everyone who assisted on the day. Events like these are only possible because of the time, effort, and commitment of our wonderful community.🙏

Continuous Reporting

Hopefully you have had a chance to have a look at the reporting that has been distributed over the last few weeks. Just a reminder to look at the letter attached to the Compass post sent out on 24th February outlining information around the reporting and how to access the reports if you are unsure. Our next report will be released tomorrow!

Clean Up Australia Day

Thank you to our amazing students for their outstanding efforts last Friday afternoon as they proudly contributed to Clean Up Australia. Their enthusiasm, teamwork and commitment to caring for our environment were truly commendable. Together, they collected five full bags of rubbish, helping to prevent waste from entering our waterways, damaging natural habitats, or posing a threat to local wildlife. We are incredibly proud of the responsibility and community spirit our students demonstrated. Their actions show that even small efforts can make a meaningful difference in protecting our environment.

SSG’s Open on Compass

Our SSG’s will be held in week 8, with the F-3 completing theirs on Thursday, March 19th and the 4-6 students on the 17th and 18th March. These meetings can be held in person and/or via Webex.  This will be useful if you wish to include outside supporting specialists that you utilise. These meetings provide an invaluable time to discuss your child's needs at school and how we can work together to achieve their goals.

It is important that you book a time during this week, as it is often challenging to organise replacement teachers for one off meetings at other times. We are looking forward to catching up and discussing your child's progress.

Toastie Thursday

We are looking forward to enjoying some delicious toasties next Thursday, 12th March. Our fantastic Student Voice team has organised this special fundraiser to raise money for supplies for our Lunchtime Clubs. Orders can be placed via the Qkr App

Building Works Update

It’s almost there! We’re now completing the final touches to bring everything together. New stairs will soon be installed behind the multipurpose room and outside the BER, creating improved access to both the playground and the specialist rooms.

Fresh vinyl will complete the look in the Kitchen Garden portables, and flooring works in the administration building are scheduled to begin next week. All works are anticipated to be completed by the end of the term, ensuring everything is ready for a fresh start in Term Two.

Selby Community House

Over the coming weeks, you will notice some changes taking place in the portables at the rear of the school as we prepare the space for Selby Community House’s Occasional Care program. We are delighted to welcome them to our school community and look forward to building a strong partnership and ensuring they feel right at home.
