Principal's Report
Mrs D. Donatiello
Dear Students and Families,
I am delighted to welcome everyone back to school for Term 2. I hope you all enjoyed a restful break and are feeling refreshed for the term ahead.
P&C News
I want to acknowledge and thank the P&C for their fundraising effort with the Easter Raffle and thank students and families for purchasing tickets. The prizes were fantastic.
Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and the P&C will hold a Mother's Day stall fundraiser to celebrate and honour all the wonderful mothers, grandmothers, and carers in our community. On Thursday 7th May, students will have the opportunity to purchase a gift for their mum, with all money raised by the P&C going towards resources for the school. This is a fantastic opportunity for our school community to come together, show appreciation, and make a positive impact.
Numeracy Screening for Year 1 Students
In Term 2, all Year 1 students will participate in a numeracy screening assessment. This screening helps teachers understand each student’s current mathematical skills and identify areas where additional support may be needed.
The assessment covers key numeracy skills appropriate for Year 1, such as counting, number recognition, and basic problem-solving. It is designed to be a positive experience and provides valuable information to guide teaching and learning.
If you have any questions about the numeracy screening, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher.
Lost Property
As the weather cools down this term, please ensure your child comes to school with their jumper or jacket clearly labelled with their name. This helps us return any lost items promptly.
We have a growing collection of unnamed jumpers, jackets, and other clothing in our lost property area. If your child is missing any items, we encourage you to check the lost property soon.
Road Safety Reminder
With many students and families travelling home at the end of the school day, it’s important to remember to cross roads safely and use designated crossings.
Please remind your children to:
Use the pedestrian crossing wherever possible.
Wait for the crossing supervisor before stepping onto the road.
Look both ways and stay alert before crossing.
Avoid distractions, such as mobile phones, when crossing roads.
We encourage families to set a good example and support our students in making safe choices. Thank you for helping keep everyone in our school community safe.
As part of keeping our school community safe, we kindly remind all motorists to adhere to road rules when driving near the school, especially during drop-off and pick-up times.
Please remember to:
Observe all speed limits, particularly the 40 km/h school zones.
Stop at pedestrian crossings to allow students to cross safely.
Avoid double parking or stopping in no-stopping zones.
Be patient and courteous to other drivers, pedestrians, and school crossing supervisors.
Your cooperation helps ensure the safety of our students, families, and staff.
Grass Maintenance Outside the School
We would like to inform our school community that the responsibility for mowing and maintaining the grassed areas outside the school grounds rests with the local council (Fairfield City Council).
If you have concerns or notice areas in need of attention, please contact the council directly, as they manage the upkeep of these public spaces.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Warm regards,
Mrs Dianne Donatiello
