Dear BMGS Community,
As we find ourselves in the midst of Term 3, it's been a dynamic and eventful time for our senior students.
Firstly, the Trial HSC is well underway. Our Year 12 students have been diligently preparing and are now putting their knowledge to the test. This is a crucial time for them, and I encourage all students to maintain their focus and continue seeking support from their teachers as they navigate this important period.
In addition to the academic challenges, our Student Leadership Process is also in full swing. It has been inspiring to see so many of our students stepping up, demonstrating their leadership qualities, and engaging in the process with enthusiasm and integrity. We are confident that our future leaders will continue to uphold the values and spirit of our school. Don’t forget to vote!
This week, we are also delighted to welcome students from Nagoya, Japan, who are visiting our school as part of our cultural exchange program. This visit provides a wonderful opportunity for our students to connect with peers from another culture, broadening their global perspectives and fostering international friendships.
Our Snowshoe Expedition has been out all week, braving the elements and embracing the adventure. This expedition is a testament to the resilience and teamwork of our students, and we look forward to hearing about their experiences upon their return.
Our Student Centre is looking magnificent! Ashlee Cremona’s artwork is now gracing my office and more fabulous student works of art that are displayed in our bustling JCSC Building.
Sophia Huckel is doing amazing things in the Public Speaking space. Here is a recount of Sophia’s experience!
In May, I took part in the Bathurst Regional Roadshow public speaking competition, celebrating the bicentenary of the Legislative Council. We had to speak on the topic “Actions Speak Louder Than Words,” and I was so excited to have placed first and achieved a place in the state final! It was a fantastic day in which I got to meet like-minded young people from across the region to discuss everything from youth mental health to the political process.
I also attended a regional youth forum later that day along with members of parliament, community representatives, and student leaders. We all spoke about the issues facing young people today, and the discussion was lively and productive. It was so fantastic to network with student leaders from across the region, and I know that future events like this will be an opportunity for BMGS students to shine! The state final takes place in the Legislative Council Chamber on Sunday the 25th of August - wish me luck!
On Sunday, a group of parents, students and staff went to support our awesome Year 12 Olivia Harris at the Premier League Netball Opens Grand Finals at Sydney Olympic Park. It was wonderful to get together as a BMGS community and support one of our outstanding elite athletes.
It's an exciting time at our school, filled with opportunities for growth, learning, and connection. I encourage all students to make the most of these experiences and to support one another as we move through the term together.
