Leadership Report

Term 2, Week 9

Dear Williamstown North Primary School,

It is wild how quickly this term has flown past! The fact that we’re at our last newsletter for the term and halfway through the year is a testament to the adage, “time flies when you’re having fun.”

Thank you for all your support of our staff who worked tirelessly to support our students throughout this term. At the end of the term, we will be saying farewell to two wonderful members of our school community — Abigail Taphouse and Jonathon Skipworth— both of whom have accepted exciting new positions and we thank them both for their support of our school and wish them well for their future endeavours. Richard Buckingham remains on leave for the beginning of Term 3, and in his absence, I will continue as Acting Principal.

In week 10, we will be providing student achievement reports for Semester 1 this year as usual. Student reports will be distributed on Tuesday 23rd June 2026. The reports will continue to provide important details about student learning attainment, but full descriptive comments may not be included due to industrial action taken earlier this term by the Australian Education Union. We will of course be pleased to discuss with you your child’s progress at our next parent-teacher interviews scheduled for Term Three, Week Three (27th July – 31st July) or, as always, you can contact your child’s classroom teacher, via Compass, to arrange a meeting.

When communicating directly with staff, we ask that you please use the email feature through your compass portal. Noting that staff have the right to disconnect from work-related communications outside of their working hours. As always, we will acknowledge receipt of the email within 24 hours, then follow up, as per the Department of Education’s Complaints policy timelines. This ensures that your matter is unpacked thoroughly and affords us the time to respond in a more complete manner. As always, if your matter needs urgent attention, you can call through to our admin team who will direct your call accordingly.

Our school gates are being open at 8:35am by teachers commencing yard duties and we thank you for your patience and understanding in introducing this change. We would like to remind families that you’re welcome to enter and exit the school through any entry point which is convenient for you and your family as there are no longer any “designated” school gates. Classrooms are open from 8:50am which has been warming as our mornings are becoming very wintery.

  • On Monday the 22nd June, you’re invited to attend our last assembly of the term, where we will be handing out School Values awards to 2 students from each year level. The assembly will take place at 2:30pm in our gym.

  • The last day of term is Friday 26th June, and we will be finishing at 2:30pm.

  • Term 3 commences on Monday 13th July for the teachers and Tuesday 14th July for students.

  •

If I don’t see you at assembly next week, please have a safe, and wonderful holiday, and I look forward to seeing you in Term 3.

Kind regards,

Shevani Moodley - Deputy Principal
