Hello everyone,

It’s wonderful to be back at Aspendale Primary School as we embark on the final term of 2026. The weather is warming up and we are lucky to have an extra hour of sunlight to make the most of in the evenings. It’s great to see so many students remembering to wear their hats. Thanks for choosing to be SunSmart.

Our students have settled back into the routines of their classroom over the week and it is great to see them commencing their learning sequences for this term.

Thank you to Melissa Jacobs and our School Improvement Team for the way they led and supported our school community in the final two weeks of Term Three. It was terrific to hear about the learning and extra-curricular opportunities at Aspendale PS when I would call from China.

China Study Tour

Our two-week study tour to China was successful. Our 17 students represented our school, our state, their families and themselves through their openness to each experience, their willingness to learn more about Chinese language, customs and culture and their gratitude to all involved. We appreciated the opportunity to visit our sister school, Xuri Jingcheng Primary School, and mark the 10th year of our sister school relationship. We continue to value the kindness and generosity of our sister school. The opportunity to learn alongside their students and staff is invaluable and unique to Aspendale PS.

Thank you to each of our students and their families for your participation in our study tour.

Thank you to Wendy Fan, the Director of Jiangsu Victoria Education Centre, for her organisation of this opportunity and ongoing nurturing of our sister school relationship.

Thank you to Hong Ma and Amelia Busuttil for their commitment, passion and organisation that allowed for another successful study tour.

Student Movement

Our school leadership team is working on our classroom structure for 2027. If you are intending to transfer to another school, please let your child’s classroom teacher or the school office know to assist us with our decision-making.

Division Athletics

It was wonderful to hear of our athletics team’s experience at the District Athletics last term. Our students were commended for the way they competed on the day, trying their best and respecting their competitors.

Today, 26 students have headed to Duncan McKinnon Athletics Track to represent Aspendale Primary School at the Kingston Division Athletics. We look forward to hearing of their achievements that will be a result of their hard work over several terms. Thanks to Katie Scott for her ongoing commitment to our students’ achieving their personal bests.

Enjoy the rest of the week,

Tom
