🚲Free Bike Checks this Thursday
Bike season is upon us and Alberto from The Bike Nook is offering free, on-site bike checks for students this Thursday, November 6th.
To have your child's bike inspected:
- Bring the bike to school and park it in the bike racks/shelter shed.
- Attach a Bike Nook tag (available from the office) to grant permission for the inspection.
- Alberto will check the bikes and leave service notes on the tag.
- Collect the bike at the end of the day.
Don't forget to drop in and thank Alberto at the Gisborne Bike Nook!
Open Doors in the Morning
We know how important a calm morning routine is for our children. To ensure a gentle and predictable start to every day, we are simplifying how we begin our mornings.
Moving forward, teachers will open classroom doors at 8:45 am—no matter the weather. This means your child can proceed straight into the warmth and familiarity of their classroom upon arrival, creating a single, consistent routine for every day.
| Activity | Time |
|---|---|
| Early Arrival Play (Yard Supervision) | Teachers are on-duty from 8:30 am |
| Classroom Doors Open (Ready to settle in) | 8:45 am |
| Learning Commences | 8:50 am |
Our staff will continue to be out in the yard from 8:30 am to supervise any students who arrive early and wish to enjoy some gentle play before the doors open.
Your support makes a huge difference! To ensure a clear path and a safe, quick flow for every child entering their classroom at 8:45 am, we ask families to please avoid gathering directly in front of the classroom doors. We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a calm, safe and welcoming school environment.
🧹Rescheduled Working Bees!
We are so grateful for your patience as we've had to reschedule a few of our working bees from last term. We know how much of a difference these days make, and we're excited to tackle some important tasks together!
We'll be sending out an Operoo form very soon to confirm numbers however we just wanted to give you this new schedule right away so you can mark your calendars!
Your help is needed for some truly crucial jobs around the school to get us ready for the end of the year and the fire season:
- Storage Cleanout: We'll be sorting the sheds, cleaning and clearing out excess furniture for sale or donation.
- Portable Clean-out: This is Round 2! We're doing the final touch-ups to the portables to get them ready for moving.
- Fire Season Prep: We'll be clearing debris and tidying up the grounds to make sure we're safe and ready for the hotter months ahead, including some mowing and weeding in the vineyard.
We've scheduled both afternoon and morning slots to hopefully accommodate different schedules:
| Date | Day | Time | Key Information |
|---|---|---|---|
| 14th Nov | Friday | 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM | Afternoon session |
| 15th Nov | Saturday | 7:30 AM - 11:30 AM | Morning session (possible garage sale) |
| 21st Nov | Friday | 3:45 PM - 5:30 PM | Afternoon session |
| 22nd Nov | Saturday | (TBC) | The exact time will be decided based on attendance and progress from the previous sessions—stay tuned! |
Spring Carnival Fundraiser
We are absolutely thrilled to share the fantastic results of our Spring Carnival fundraiser!
Thanks to the incredible support from our families and local community businesses, we raised over $10,000! This was a massive effort, and the funds will be an incredible benefit to our school's play areas.
Now that we have the funds, the next step is planning! We will soon be seeking input from the Student Representative Council (SRC) to help us decide how best to enhance and upgrade our outdoor play spaces.
