Need to Know

Welcome to Term 3!

I hope this newsletter finds you well as we dive into Term 3. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jayke Greenard and Claire Suckling for their dedication and hard work in running the Year 10 Snow Camp during the first week of term. The camp was a tremendous success, and according to Ms. Suckling, our students were "awesome."

Exciting News: NASA Space Camp in 2025!

We’re thrilled to announce that we have commenced planning and research to offer the NASA Space Camp to our students in 2025. Stay tuned for more updates as we work to make this out-of-this-world opportunity a reality!

Year 9 and 10 Pathways Interviews

The Year 9 and 10 Pathways Interviews have now concluded. Our students were excited to explore their subject choices for 2025. It’s wonderful to see them so engaged in shaping their academic futures.  Please ensure your child has met the deadline for submitting their subject choices.

Uniform Reminder

With the chilly weather setting in, I’d like to remind students and parents of our comprehensive uniform options, which are designed to keep everyone warm. Please note that students must wear only St Helena branded uniform items, including our new warm black puffer jacket from 2023. Hoodies and non-uniform tracksuit pants are not permitted. I am pleased to see many students opting for the puffer jacket and staying comfortable in the cold.

40th Anniversary Celebration - Save the Date!

Our community engagement leader, Caitlin Fecondo, is working diligently to plan our 40th Anniversary celebrations on Saturday, November 30th. We are planning an exciting day with an open-air cinema, food trucks, and other entertainment. I have fond memories of St Helena from its very first year, including my student teacher rounds here (!) and the initial buildings that were constructed. I hope you’ll join us for this significant milestone.

Monster Cool at School Raffle - Where will you go if you win?

A big thank you to our parent and student volunteers who have been busy sourcing prizes for our Monster Cool at School Raffle. Ticket sales will begin in the first week of August, and you’ll receive a Compass notification about consenting to your child bringing home a book of tickets to sell. Tickets are $10 each, with ten tickets per book. We are aiming to raise $55,000 for our air conditioning project.

Please consider ordering extra books and selling them at your workplaces, sporting clubs, etc. There are fantastic incentives for selling tickets, including prizes for students, Strive groups, and staff members. We will also need volunteers to staff stalls at local retail outlets. Even an hour of your time would be greatly appreciated.  A call for volunteers will come out in early August.

The raffle will be drawn at our 40th Anniversary Celebration, and with only 12,000 tickets on sale and numerous prizes, your chances of winning are excellent!

First prize:  a $10,000 travel voucher

Second prize:  a chef prepared dinner for 8 in your home!

plus many, many more!

A sincere thank you to our generous donors and prize-sourcers.  We will issue a more comprehensive recognition at the conclusion of the raffle.
