Greenacre Secondary Campus Update

Assalaamu Alaykum WRWB,
The first ten days of Dhul Hijjah are among the most sacred days in Islam, offering a special opportunity for the believers to increase in worship, gratitude, and good deeds.
During these blessed days, students are encouraged to strengthen their connection with Allah (SWT) through prayer, Qur’an recitation, dhikr, fasting (especially on the Day of Arafah), and acts of kindness. Eid al-Adha, which marks the completion of these ten days, commemorates the devotion and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and teaches important values of sacrifice, generosity, and trust in Allah. As families celebrate together, this is a meaningful time to reflect on faith, support those in need, and nurture these values in our children.
This term at Greenacre secondary we have Alhamdulillah engaged in a number of events to continue fostering a sense of identity, Taqwa as well as leadership qualities in our students.
Fifteen year 10 students have been engaged in a leadership program organised by Human Appeal Australia, students are required to complete an individual profile that shows their involvement in sport, service as well as skill enhancement. This term students participated in a Feeding the Homeless program facilitated by Brothers in Need as well as a leadership program organised and ran by the Sydney Giants. Students will cap their training with a camp testing their survival skills.
Year 11 Studies of Religion students in partnership with St Patrick College, recently participated in a meaningful interfaith excursion to St Oliver Plunkett Catholic Church and Auburn Gallipoli Mosque. The visit provided learners with the opportunity to explore each other’s faith traditions, places of worship and religious practices. Through respectful dialogue and shared experiences, they deepened their understanding, built meaningful connections and developed a greater appreciation for the diversity that strengthens our community.
Year 8 students completed a unit of work on the Respiratory system. They were required to demonstrate their understanding and collaboration skills by producing and presenting a model. Thank you to all staff involved in this project allowing our students to express their understanding through these creative models.
Finally on behalf of all executive, staff and students of Greenacre Secondary campus, we wish all our families an accepted worship during the first ten days of thul-Hijja and a blessed Eid Al Adha, hoping to see you all at the Eid Festival.
Mr Omar Merheb, Head of Campus
