Greenacre Primary Campus Update

Assalaamu Alaykum WRWB,
Alḥamdulillāh, we have already reached the midpoint of what has been a productive, busy, and exciting year at Greenacre Primary Campus. Throughout Term 2, our campus has continued to engage in a number of meaningful initiatives and projects aimed at enriching the educational, spiritual, academic, and wellbeing experiences of our learners and educators alike. Below are some highlights from the term.
Staff Arabic Programs
One of the most exciting initiatives launched this term has been our Staff Arabic Programs, grounded in the belief that meaningful student transformation cannot occur without the transformation of the educator.
Two Arabic pathways were introduced for staff:
A Beginners Arabic Program, focused on developing Qur’anic reading through the Iqra series, facilitated by our Arabic Coordinator, Ustadha Jinane Ghamraoui.
A Classical Arabic Program, focusing on Arabic grammar, morphology, and rhetoric with the objective of reading and understanding classical Islamic texts, facilitated by Dr Hinad Yasin, who holds a PhD in Arabic rhetoric from Al-Azhar University.
The response from staff has been overwhelmingly positive, with more than 20 staff members enrolled in the Classical Arabic program and 19 colleagues participating in the Beginners program. We ask Allah ﷻ to bless this initiative and allow it to bear much fruit for our educators, students, and wider school community.
Preliminary NAPLAN 2026 Results
Our preliminary NAPLAN 2026 results indicate encouraging whole-school improvement across both Year 3 and Year 5 cohorts in the domains of reading, numeracy, grammar and punctuation, and spelling.
While full results, including writing and growth data, will be released later in the year, these early indicators reflect the continued efforts of our educators and learners. At the same time, we remain committed to our holistic educational philosophy, recognising that true success extends beyond academic achievement to include the nurturing of the learner’s character, spirituality, and relationship with Allah ﷻ.
New Playground Development
We are pleased to share that construction of a new playground facility is expected to commence later this term within the sheltered basketball court area. This significant investment by the school, valued at approximately $250,000, will provide high-quality recreational opportunities for our K–6 learners.
The initiative comes in response to student feedback and aims to further enhance student wellbeing and play experiences across the campus. We look forward to its completion by Term 3, in shāʾ Allāh.
Scope IT Program
This term, our campus partnered with Scope IT to further develop students’ digital literacy and STEM-related skills. The program supports learners across a broad spectrum of technological competencies, ranging from foundational computer skills to introductory coding and programming.
The initiative has received highly positive feedback from both students and staff, and we look forward to continuing this partnership in future years, in shāʾ Allāh.
COLA Update
Significant progress has also been made regarding our Covered Outdoor Learning Area (COLA). The primary structure has now been completed, with current works focusing on reinstatement and finishing elements, including fencing, basketball court restoration, CCTV installation, and new paving.
We are hopeful that the facility will be fully operational and accessible for student use by Term 3, in shāʾ Allāh.
Hajj Education and Mini Market
In recognition of the blessed days of Dhul-Ḥijjah, our Qur’an and Islamic Studies Department facilitated a wonderful Hajj Education Day for students. Learners had the opportunity to engage in interactive workshops and experience aspects of the rites of Hajj through hands-on activities, including ṭawāf around a model Kaʿbah, movement between Ṣafā and Marwah, and symbolic stoning at Minā and the standing of 'Arafāt.
The workshops were facilitated by our Qur’an and Islamic Studies Coordinator, Sheikh Ahmed Abdo, and were received with great enthusiasm by students and staff alike.
In addition, our Wellbeing Team and Parent Committee collaboratively organised a pre-ʿEid Mini Market, which also functioned as a fundraising initiative. Alḥamdulillāh, approximately $11,000 was raised, with proceeds supporting the Principal’s Qur’an Fundraiser, Student Shūrā initiatives, and student wellbeing activities. We sincerely thank our parent community and staff for their support and contributions towards such a successful event.
Student Wellbeing Workshops
This term, our Wellbeing Team facilitated a series of wellbeing workshops for students in Years 3–6 under the theme “Manners of a Muslim.” The workshops focused on essential Islamic etiquette, healthy relationships, and character development through a preventative and proactive lens centred on the principle of “prevention before intervention.”
Students engaged positively with the sessions, which aimed to nurture strong Islamic character and healthy peer interactions.
Year 5 Emotions Workshops
Our Counselling Team also facilitated specialised emotions workshops for Year 5 students, focusing on emotional awareness, emotional regulation, and healthy peer relationships. Through interactive presentations and role-play activities, students were able to deepen their understanding of social and emotional wellbeing in practical and engaging ways.
We thank our Counselling Coordinator, Sr Fatima Masri, and the counselling team for their valuable contribution to student wellbeing.
CITE, Adelaide University Visit and Collaboration
This term, we were honoured to host colleagues from the Centre for Islamic Thought and Education (CITE), including Professor Mohamad Abdalla, Associate Professor Nadeem Memon, and Ustadh Dylan Chown.
During their visit, our Niyyah Subcommittee, campus executive team, and stage coordinators shared a number of the initiatives and projects being undertaken to further advance the school’s renewed direction of re-centring educational practice within an Islamic worldview. The visit provided a valuable opportunity for reflection, dialogue, and constructive feedback regarding the progress and impact of these initiatives.
Faith-Led Professional Learning
This term also marked the commencement of our professional learning series titled “Clarifying Key Terms in Islamic Education.” This initiative emerged in response to recommendations from the CITE review conducted in 2025, which identified a need for greater clarity and shared understanding regarding key Islamic educational concepts.
These resources have been transformed into accessible educational infographics and are being shared with staff as part of an ongoing faith-led professional learning initiative aimed at strengthening shared language, understanding, and alignment across our campus.
As always, we sincerely thank our parents and community for their continued trust, support, and partnership in the nurturing and cultivation of our learners. We ask Allah ﷻ to continue blessing our school community and to allow us to fulfil this important responsibility with sincerity and excellence.
Eid Mubarak to all of our families. May Allah ﷻ allow us to witness many more blessed Eids in a state of health, wellbeing, and faith, and may He bring relief and ease to those suffering around the world.
Ali Arabaci, Head of Campus
