Principal's Report

Dear HPS Community,

I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend and had the opportunity to rest, recharge and spend time with family and friends. We spent the weekend with our friends on their farm in Katamatite, a small town that I am guessing not many people would have likely heard of before. We loved our time in the fresh, country air.

During our Curriculum Day on Friday, staff engaged in a highly productive and collaborative day of professional learning. The focus was on deepening our understanding of the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model, particularly the element of Enabling Learning, and strengthening the connections between this framework and our current school improvement work.

Key presentations throughout the day focused on Social and Emotional Learning, Encouraging Expected Behaviours, and Goal Setting. These sessions were expertly facilitated by Nicola, Heather and Brad, whose leadership and expertise helped guide rich professional discussions and reflection.

It was inspiring to see the high level of professionalism, collaboration and collective commitment demonstrated by our staff. The thoughtful conversations, shared understanding and clear actions identified will provide strong direction for our work over the next six months as we continue striving to achieve the best outcomes for all students.

As we move into the final two weeks of Term 2 and reach the halfway point of the school year, it is natural for many of us—students, staff and families alike—to begin feeling tired and that our personal batteries are running low. It has been a busy and productive semester filled with learning, growth and many wonderful experiences.

During times like these, it is especially important that we continue to demonstrate our school values of Respect, Resilience, Responsibility and Compassion. These values guide how we interact with one another and help create a positive, supportive and inclusive school community.

The old saying, "You never know what someone else is going through," remains as true as ever. A kind word, a patient response, a helping hand or a moment of understanding can make a significant difference to someone else's day.

As we approach the end of the term, I encourage everyone to continue showing kindness, patience and empathy towards others. By looking after ourselves and supporting those around us, we can ensure that our school remains a place where everyone feels valued, respected and connected.

Thank you to our students, staff and families for the care and commitment you show each day. Let's work together to finish the semester strong and continue to make Heidelberg Primary School a wonderful place to learn and belong.
