A Chat with Nick Campbell
Last week, our VCE Legal Studies students were treated to a visit from Lawyer, Nick Campbell. After watching Nick in action in Melbourne's Federal Court, Nick attended onsite to answer questions and share some of his experience, both inside and outside the courtroom.
As well as providing general information surrounding the study required to obtain a Law Degree, Nick also detailed different study options when practising law and possible pathways allowing university students to transition into the subject. During the small group session, students raised many interesting questions, as they sought to gather information relevant to their future study plans and understand what accommodation options are available.
Students Day Out
Last Wednesday, our Middle Years students celebrated their Big Day Out, travelling to Ballarat, where they heard from two very different, but equally inspiring guest speakers, Dr Dinesh Palipana, OAM and Facilitator of Innovation, Jason Clarke.
Dr. Dinesh Palipana, OAM, was the first quadriplegic doctor to graduate in Australia. He then went on to become a certified lawyer. He is also a strong advocate for human rights.
Jason Clarke is one of Australia’s most respected facilitators of innovation, boasting a career that features experience in the arts, business, and more. Jason has worked as a Creative Director for multimedia, founded his own organisation, taught in both Melbourne and New York City, and served as a member of the board for Engineers Without Borders for over a decade.
After listening to their stories, students also learned how these individuals use their experience to help those less fortunate. At the close of the session, students were then treated with a movie, before returning to school at the end of the day.
Special thanks to Mrs Powlett for organising and attending the day and to Mrs Fisher, Mr Collins and Mr Severino for accompanying the students. The College would also like to thank Pyrenees Shire Council for generously covering the cost of the bus for the day.
