Supporting Your Child Through Mid-Year Exams at Bayside College
As we approach the mid-year exam period at Bayside College, it’s an important time for students to consolidate their learning and prepare for the challenges ahead. Exams can be a source of stress, but with the right support at home, students can approach them with confidence and a clear plan.
Exam Schedules Available on Compass
All mid-year exam timetables have now been uploaded to Compass. We encourage all parents and carers to review the schedule with their child to ensure they are aware of exam dates, times, and any required materials.
How You Can Help at Home
1. Create a Study Routine
Help your child create a realistic study timetable that balances revision, rest, and other commitments. Break study sessions into manageable blocks and factor in regular breaks.
2. Set Up a Study-Friendly Space
Ensure your child has a quiet, well-lit area free from distractions where they can focus on their work. A tidy space and organised notes can make a big difference.
3. Encourage Active Study Techniques
Support your child in using effective revision strategies such as summarising notes, using flashcards and teaching concepts back to you.
4. Promote Balance and Wellbeing
A healthy balance of study, sleep, nutrition, and physical activity is crucial. Encourage regular sleep patterns, nutritious meals, and downtime to reduce stress and improve focus.
5. Stay Informed and Encouraging
Check Compass regularly for updates and communicate with your child about their progress and how they’re feeling. Reassure them that effort is more important than perfection.
At Bayside College, we are committed to supporting our students during this period both in and out of the classroom. If you have any questions or concerns about exams, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teachers or year level coordinator.
Let’s work together to ensure every student feels prepared and supported.
