Father's Day

Father's Day in Australia is celebrated on the first Sunday of September and provides an opportunity to recognise and give thanks for the fathers and father figures who care for, encourage and support us. 

The tradition began in the United States in the early 1900s and gradually became established in Australia during the 1930s. 

While families celebrate in different ways, Father's Day can be as simple as sharing a meal, spending time together, making a card or saying a heartfelt "thank you". It is also important to remember the fathers and father figures, who have passed away 

We wish all the fathers, grandfathers and special father figures in our St Michael's community a very happy Father's Day.

Nativity of Mary - 8th September

On 8 September, we celebrate the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which honours the birth of Mary, the mother of Jesus. 

Although Scripture does not tell us about Mary’s birth, the Church has celebrated this feast for many centuries as a joyful celebration of the woman who would become the mother of Jesus. 

Mary’s life reminds us of the importance of faith, trust and responding generously to God’s call. 

As we celebrate Mary’s birth, we can also give thanks for the special people in our own lives who help us grow in faith, love and kindness.
