From the Principal

Dear families,

I hope you all had the chance to enjoy the extra long weekend. It is always a nice half term, little break for everyone. Next week we turn our attention to Harmony Week and Catholic Education Week. Harmony Week is a week long celebration where we celebrate the cultural diversity, inclusiveness and respect. Students will participate in a range of activities throughout the week, this includes a free dress day on Friday 20th of March. Students are invited to bring a gold coin donation on the day. All finds raised will go in our Project Compassion Boxes.

During Harmony Week, we also celebrate Catholic Education Week. This is a chance for us to celebrate all things Catholic Education. On Thursday afternoon, staff at STM will join with staff from other Catholic Schools in the Hills to celebrate our Combined Schools Mass. This is a tradition which is celebrated every year. On Friday 20th of March our School Captains, Vice Captains and Social Justice Leaders will accompany Mrs Jones and Mrs Munro to the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Catholic Education Week Mass at St Patrick's Cathedral in Melbourne. A wonderful occasion where our students will celebrate Catholic Education with peers from 400+ schools in the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

Sibling Enrolments for 2027:

Sibling enrolments are due by the end of Term 1, 2026. I please urge all families who have a child starting Prep in 2027 to complete the paperwork as soon as possible. These numbers are vital as we plan class structures for next year.

Division Swimming:

On Tuesday, we had 6 students represent our school at the Dandenong Ranges Division Swimming Carnival. First we had Harper, Eliza, Tala and Payton compete in the girls 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay, the girls did a great job and came in 4th place. In the 4 x 50m Medly Relay, Lydia stepped in for Harper and once again the girls swam very well coming in 5th place. Ellira (Yr 5) competed in two individual events, finishing 4th in both. Tala (Yr 6) also completed in two individual events, coming third in Freestyle and 1st place in Butterfly. Tala now progresses through to the Regional Carnival for Butterfly.

Well done to all the girls for representing our school with pride and having a go. We are very proud of all of you. We wish Tala all the best at the next level.

Harmony Week:

The BTN (Behind the News) video below is a few years old, but gives a great example of what Harmony Week is, and why we celebrate it.

 Project Compassion 2026:

Caritas Australia Boxes in every class:

Just a note for parents, each class has a project compassion box to help raise money for Caritas. Below is some information from our Social Justice Leaders.

School Photo Day:

I have had a few questions about school photo day. Our school photo day this year is Thursday 30th of April. On this day all students are expected to wear their STM Sports uniform. I would also ask that students wear the fleece zip up, rather than the red jumper. Just a reminder that the sports uniform requires white socks.
