Principal Report

Dear Families,
Welcome back to Term 2. It was wonderful to see all of our students back with a smile last week and get straight back into their learning routines. We hope all families had a wonderful Easter break.
Bikes
It is wonderful that so many of our students and families ride their bikes to school. Please remember that bikes must be walked on the school grounds for everyone's safety.
Supervision
Just a reminder about the Before and After School Supervision arrangements at Ballarat Primary School (Dana Street)ol. The school grounds are supervised by school staff from 8.30 am until 3.45 pm. Staff only monitor the front of the school playground after school.
If students arrive at school before 8.30am, they are required to come to the office area and remain there until 8.30 am. Students are not permitted to enter their classrooms until 8.45 am.
If students are still in the playground area at 3.45 pm when the final bell rings, they will be sent up to the office foyer, where parents/carers will be contacted, and they will be supervised by staff until collected.
SunSmart - Hats
The Department of Education has a new Sun Smart Policy, released late last year. It outlines the requirements for staff and students to continue wearing hats when the UV Index is 3 or above (usually from mid-August until the End of April). This is a change from our hat Terms, which were only Terms 1 and 4. We will encourage students to continue wearing hats during these specified times when the UV is above 3.
ANZAC Day
Tomorrow, our Student Leaders will represent Dana Street Primary School at the Arch of Victory ANZAC Day ceremony. Our students have all participated in an ANZAC Day artwork as part of their art program, and we acknowledged ANZAC Day during our assembly today. Lest we forget.
Eureka Street - Safe Road Petition
For any interested families, there is a petition at the front office to increase road safety measures on Eureka Street. If you would like to sign this, please see the office staff.
Have a wonderful week,
Helen
