Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
In Semester One, students in Years 3 to 6 will have a weekly session focussed on Social Emotional Learning as a part of their specialist program. The program will draw on the Personal and Social Capabilities from the Victorian Curriculum.
Year 3 - Respectful Relationships
In Year 3, the curriculum focuses on helping students to understand positive relationships and connections. Students will be supported by the Respectful Relationships program which will investigate the importance of emotional literacy to help them name and manage their feelings. We will also explore how individuals can experience and express emotions differently, even in the same situations. By encouraging open discussions about our emotional experiences and practicing empathy, we aim to create an environment where students feel heard, understood and supported.
Years 4, 5 and 6
In Years 4, 5 and 6, the curriculum focuses on the development of friendships and the behaviours that build strong connections, such as sensitivity, kindness, and respect for diversity. Through this process, students will have the opportunity to reflect on their own friendship qualities, habits, and behaviours, and how these impact those around them to ultimately promote positive relationships and growth within our school community.
