More Cool Catch-Ups:

Ex Pupils Shining Brightly:

We love staying in touch with our ex-students. Lots come back to visit and they always have stories of their success and achievements.

Two recent visitors really stood out, though.

Savio won pretty much every award for his year cohort at St Peter's College, including the top Outstanding Achievement Award. Even though Savio excels at everything he does, he remains humble, in addition to being gentle, kind, and respectful. We are very proud.

Te Wairangi is also shining. He contributed hugely to our many sporting successes while at Western Heights and took six different sports awards at Glen Eden Intermediate, including the Supreme Sports Award. Te Wai, too, is humble, kind, caring and respectful, and we are very proud.

Angus the Builder:

Story from Whaea Nicole:

Angus has been coming to see me about once a week at lunchtime, and he finally completed this bird's house. I’m so proud of him. I had nothing to do with the ideas or the how; I was just the resource person and the very brave holder of things while he figured out how to get his ideas from his head into his hands.

Even just watching him select an appropriate nail and then use the hammer more efficiently (and safely) was a massive win. Angus refused to draw up a plan or talk through any of his ideas because he just knew what he wanted to do, and trying to explain was wasting time (and I totally understand that!), so once he hit a problem, he would scrounge around my room and find something to use that would be a good fix. I think it’s a very cool non-kitset, no-plan build for a 7-year-old. This is a surprise present for his dad, and he was proud to take it home.
