Sport report

It has been a fantastic and energetic start to Term 2, with an exciting month of sport ahead for our Maramba students.
May is shaping up to be a very busy and rewarding time, with a number of important events on the calendar. We look forward to welcoming Casey Basketball for a special incursion on Wednesday 6th May, providing students with the opportunity to develop their skills alongside experienced coaches.
Our District Cross Country event will take place on Tuesday 12th May, where selected students will represent Maramba and challenge themselves against other schools. We wish all competitors the very best of luck.
Basketball continues to be a strong focus at our school, with our Year 5 and 6 teams competing in Hooptime on Thursday 14th May. Shortly after, students will also take part in the Winter Lightning Premiership on Wednesday 20th May, competing in AFL, T-ball, and Soccer.
All upcoming events are now available on Compass for parent approval. As always, we greatly appreciate the support of any parents or carers who are available to assist on the day.
Our Sports Academy is now in full swing, with students already completing initial fitness and skill assessments. It has been fantastic to see the effort and enthusiasm from all participants. This term, the Academy has begun a specialised focus on Basketball and Athletics, providing students with targeted coaching and development opportunities in these areas.
We also want to acknowledge some fantastic opportunities provided to our students toward the end of last term. Students participated in netball incursions delivered by Casey Netball, where they developed their fundamental skills and game understanding in a fun and engaging environment. In addition, our students were involved in Girls AFL clinics, which were a great success and saw strong participation, enthusiasm, and skill development.
Finally, thank you to all students, families, and staff for your continued support in making sport at Maramba such a positive and engaging part of school life. We are looking forward to an exciting Term 2 and seeing our students continue to grow, compete, and most importantly, enjoy being active.
