Dear Banyan Fields Primary School Community,

Welcome back to Term 3 at Banyan Fields Primary School.

We hope all of our students and families enjoyed a safe and relaxing break and are ready for another exciting term of learning. It has been wonderful to see students returning with enthusiasm, positivity and a readiness to learn.

Throughout Term 3, we look forward to continuing to build strong learning routines, celebrate student growth and provide engaging opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. As always, our TESS values of Tenacity, Equity, Synergy and Stewardship will continue to guide the way we learn, work together and support one another as a school community.

Thank you to our families for your ongoing partnership and support. We look forward to another fantastic term together at Banyan Fields Primary School.

PLC

Every student at our school recently completed a spelling assessment and the teachers will spend the next week analysing the data. The patterns and information gathered will then be used to prepare our goal and plan for Term 3. Following the significant success made in Semester 1, we look forward to celebrating the outcomes with you at the end of the term. 

School Policy Review - Bullying Prevention

Please see the school website for our updated Bullying Prevention policy. We are hoping to finalise the policy in the next few weeks so please send through any feedback or questions you have to the school office at your earliest convenience. 

Industrial Action

We appreciate the support from the community this week when many of our staff participated in the stop work action. The vast majority of our families managed to make alternative arrangements for their children, and those who had no other options communicated their plans with enough time for us to ensure we had enough coverage across the school. This support helps our community to thrive and for that, we are grateful. 

Foundation Enrolments, 2027

The deadline for our Foundation enrolments for 2027 is July 31st. If you have a child who is due to begin school in 2027 or know anybody else who is interested in enrolling their child at Banyan Fields, please click here to access the online enrolment page. We appreciate your support in ensuring that we have all enrolments submitted and complete on time so we can then begin planning for the students’ transition. 

Parent Teacher Interviews

A reminder to all families that Thursday, July 30th is a Curriculum Day to allow for parent-teacher Interviews. If you haven’t yet booked in for an interview, please see the notification on Compass or contact your child’s teacher. If we don’t hear from you, your child’s teacher may call on Thursday for a check-in. Parent-teacher interviews provide us with an opportunity to work together to ensure that every student is progressing and has all of the supports and adjustments in place for them to thrive. 

Life Education 

A reminder that our Life Education sessions begin Tuesday, 28 July.

Throughout the program, students will participate in engaging, age-appropriate lessons that promote health, wellbeing and positive decision-making. Delivered by Life Education educators, these interactive sessions help students build the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy and safe choices.

We look forward to welcoming the Life Education team to Banyan Fields Primary School and know our students will enjoy this valuable learning experience.

Book Week - Upcoming Dates for Book Parade and Book Fair

Stewardship: We care for people, places, and possibilities.

You may be aware that the government will send a notification to all mobile devices, including smart watches, on Monday at approximately 2pm. As this will include staff and student devices, please have a conversation with your child about the notifications and what they are for. Students who bring their mobile device to school will notice the message when they collect their device from the office at the end of the day so should be made aware in advance so they are not worried. Tree Planting Day

Next week, our school will be taking part in a special tree planting project to help enhance our school grounds and support the local environment.

Thanks to a successful grant application, we have received 100 indigenous trees and shrubs to plant around the school. Indigenous plants are well suited to our local environment, provide important habitat for native wildlife, and help to increase biodiversity.

Students will have the opportunity to be involved in the planting process, learning about the importance of caring for our environment and the role that native vegetation plays in creating healthy ecosystems.

We look forward to watching these plants grow over the coming years.

Banyan Reserve

Please be aware that the council contractor completing works in Banyan Reserve will be temporarily closing the access gate at the bottom of the school oval while concreting works are carried out.

The gate will be closed from Monday 27th July until late Friday 31st July.

During this time, families will not be able to access Banyan Reserve via the school oval gate.

We kindly ask that you use an alternative access point while these works are underway.
