Learning and Teaching

Welcome back to Term 3! Teachers have been busy preparing an exciting term ahead, filled with engaging learning experiences, hands-on activities, and plenty of opportunities for students to grow, explore, and achieve their best. 

Premier’s Reading Challenge

There are only 52 days left of the Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge and we are currently sitting at 337 books read for our amazing school. We have 7 students who have already completed the challenge. Congratulations to those students. Let’s see if we can reach 500 books by the end of the challenge. 

Literacy in Term 3

All year levels will continue to develop their Reading, Writing, and Speaking and Listening skills through engaging novel studies, while our junior students will also continue progressing through the Little Learners Love Literacy scope and sequence.

Mathematics

During Term 3, Mathematics will continue to be taught using the OCHRE resource. Teachers have been developing engaging ways to bring mathematics to life in the classroom, including the use of hands-on resources and rich learning tasks that encourage students to apply their mathematical knowledge and problem-solving skills in meaningful, real-world contexts.

Humanities and Science

This term all year levels are starting with a Humanities unit. While the content knowledge of these units differ for each year level the main focus across the school will be Geography.  Students from Foundation to Year 2 will develop their geographical skills by exploring places, using maps, and investigating the world around them, while Years 3–6 students will strengthen their geographical inquiry skills by investigating places, analysing information, and using a range of geographical tools.

The second half of the Term 3 will see the whole school pivot towards a Science focus.
