Clasax Competition
On 13 June, 11 students from the Eltham High Symphonic Band clarinet section performed as part of the CLASAX (clarinet and saxophone society) ensemble competition, held at Monash University's Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music. Conducted by clarinet teacher Ryan Lynch, our students rehearsed diligently before school each week leading up their first performance as a clarinet ensemble.
Eltham High School received third place in the Senior Large Ensemble section for their moving performances of Irish Tune from County Derry, and Moonlight Serenade. We are also delighted to announce that Jasper Geddes (Year 10, Skipper House) and Kate Mcrae (Year 11, Toner House) competed in the Senior Small Ensemble category as a duet, winning first place.
The Music Department is incredibly proud of their achievements, and look forward to hearing more clarinet ensemble performances in the future.
